Hey folks, just purchased the bionic about 10 days ago.

Wasn't having any issues until yesterday, when my widgets, personalized home screens and icons, etc were all changed or wiped away somehow. My app screen also started rolling vertically instead of the default horizontal. I went from 5 home screens to 3. The icons along the bottom of the screen changed as well.

Today, the icons at the bottom of the screen all changed to plus signs, then 10 minutes later changed back to the icons. I thought initially that there was some magic key commands I was pressing, but it seems pretty clear it's a device issue.

anyone have any tips or advice for a droid newbie? i haven't really done anything advanced on the phone, pretty much used it right out of the box without a whole lot of customization so far...

It's actually funny you mention this with the icons at the bottom all changing to + signs. I use GOLauncher, and I swear the same thing happened to me today too .... Not sure if it was for a set period of time or what since I changed them back to what was originally there right away.

it happened, and I am guessing, around 2PM EST.

Maybe something that Moto/VZW screwed up for a couple minutes? It would be quite a coincidence that we're using 2 seperate launchers and both had that happen today, no?:eek:

thanks...the apps weren't in the media area.

However I just uninstalled LauncherPro, which I had no clue what I was doing with. I did a battery pull, and all my icons and widgets are back to where they were 2 days ago. Previous battery pulls and resets hadn't done anything...

Launcher Pro was your problem. Whenever you install a new launcher, it'll reset all your homescreens. Some also have different setups for your app drawer (vertical or horizontal).

Just to add to what natty already told you, a home replacement app does exactly that, replaces your homescreen. It has to be set up from scratch as it is a diff homescreen from the one it replaced.

It comes with a default dock (the icons on the bottom of the screen) which can be set up as you see fit and with diff icons should you choose. The dock is also customizable and can be scrollable with up to 15 spaces. In other words, you can set up to 15 apps (5 per scroll) that you use the most often. You can adjust it so that you only show the 5 apps (or 4 + app drawer) if you wish. The plus signs are spaces that haven't been assigned yet.
