OK, so let's just say that the Bravo is going to come to the U.S. and when it gets here it will be called the Passion. The moderators keep moving our threads, well...here is the problem: The Passion has been confirmed to be the codename for the Nexus One. Well, there's already a Nexus One forum. So, the Passion isn't even a real phone anymore. It's the Bravo/Incredible, so until a moderator, hopefully, opens a HTC Bravo thread, we are all just going to have to keep posting in here, because no one goes to the other area of the forums. We've all been coming here for a long time. So, we don't know FOR SURE that the Bravo won't be released in the U.S. under the name "Passion." So, until we have complete proof that it won't be, let's just refer to the Bravo as the Passion just to keep this thread streamlined and seemingly on topic with the "HTC Passion" sub-forum.

And come on moderator, you'll move our thread where we are actually discussing a phone but you'll leave two completely off-topic polls that have nothing AT ALL to do with any phone at all? Something's wrong here. All we want to do is discuss this phone like we have been doing for the past couple of months.

Is there is no "Passion" announced for VZW by next Friday are you all going to hang on for the N1?

Oh yeah, I'm hanging on. There isn't a phone I would settle for, currently, on Verizon right now. The Nexus One is a great phone, but man...I just have to have me some HTC Sense UI. After playing with the Eris the other day, now I DEFINITELY can't go without Sense UI. It just improves the Android experience too much to pass it up by picking up the N1. Don't get me wrong, I think the Nexus seems like a sweet phone, but the touch buttons, the stock Android experience, trackball, etc. Eh...it's just going to be at the bottom of the pile in a few months and everyone will have lost interest in it. At least that's what I personally think. Once the Passion/Bravo/Incredible comes to Verizon and the Supersonic comes to Sprint, everyone is going to be saying "Nexus One? What's that?" haha It won't be THAT extreme, but I seriously want a phone that will shoot 720p HD video, REALLY bad. Combine that with Sense UI, the 1ghz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7" GORGEOUS screen, and quite possibly some physical buttons and an optical track pad, and well...that's the perfect phone in my opinion. I may have left out a few other features that are big pluses for this phone, but I pretty much covered much of them.

You know, the nexus one will have a sense ROM right after the Bravo/Passion/Incredible comes out...
As lively a community as the rooters/xda is it still makes up a very small percentage of end users, same as with iphone jailbreakers. Lots of people just don't know how to or just don't want to.

I think it's also a moot point. Lots of people on here seem to be Verizon users and since a N1 date hasn't been set by Big Red it seems that there's a good chance the Bravo comes out around the same time if not before the N1 for VZW. In which case, there's no reason to choose the N1 if you want Sense.

One advantage of the Nexus One is that it will get the latest Android version (2.2 etc) before any other manufacturer's phone. Who knows what cool things Google has planned for Android such as UI enhancements etc. Whatever they are the Nexus One will get them first. That's the only reason I'm still undecided on whether to get the Bravo or Nexus One.

Yeah, I see your point there. However, I honestly don't think I could want anything more than Android with Sense UI on top of it. Stock Android, I'm sure, will keep getting better and better but geez...I just can't see it ever looking as BEAUTIFUL as HTC's Sense UI. It may though, but for now I honestly have zero interest in the Nexus One. I would have to say, though it will still be a great phone, the Nexus One will be old news in a couple of months, heck...maybe even in just a week or so. Actually quite possibly in a week. If that's the case, the Nexus on Verizon won't amount to much at all. If anything, it will just be an offering from Google for people who don't want to be in-contract with Verizon, if that's the way the N1 is offered via Verizon.

Regardless, I never really liked the N1 from the beginning. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's light years ahead of my current phone, but after playing with the Eris the other day, I just need a larger screened/faster version of that phone and I will be a happy man for quite some time. I see your point though totally brother. I think the Nexus is a great phone, just not exactly what I want.

The nexus one will not be old news in a week. And even if it is, what's wrong with having an "old" phone with a 1GHz snapdragon processor, sleeker than the iPhone, and immediate Android updates? I'm sure that Sense will run great on it too; especially with the dedicated GPU.

No, I wasn't saying that in a bad way. I'm just saying that the Nexus One is/was the first phone to have the 1ghz Snapdragon in it. That's great, but more and more phones are coming out and very soon from HTC. I forget, but I read an article that said that HTC was coming out with like 20 new phones this year. I may be be wrong on that, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere in the past week. Anyways, regardless, the Nexus IS totally a great phone. I completely agree with that. But it's lacking some features that will come ON the phone standard, without having to root the phone, etc. Phones are going to be able to take HD video VERY soon, and the Nexus doesn't, but that's not a deal breaker for most people. The touch buttons are hard to hit everytime correctly, and I know this because I've seen videos reviews of the phone and that's one of the biggest complaints. Plus, I've played with the Eris and the Moto DROID and it has the same type of touch sensitive buttons and you LITERALLY have to push them 2-5 times before they register. It's so annoying. So...with that said, the Nexus IS a great phone and will be for a long time, but I'm not going to settle for it right now when we're within a few weeks or a couple of months of having many more HTC Android phone choices that will have more features (Sense UI built-in, physical buttons, 720p HD video, etc). I'm not going to settle right now and be kicking myself in a few weeks, or probably a little bit longer, when a more perfect (in my personal opinion) phone comes to market on Verizon.

Anyways, I wasn't saying the phone is old news and though I typed that, I meant that kinda tongue in cheek. The Nexus is and will be a great phone for a couple of years, but there are just too many other promising prospects rumored to be coming out shortly for me to even THINK about settling and getting the Nexus One. /End Rant ;)

I see. Having physical buttons would be awesome. My friend, who had the Sprint Hero for a few months, would always make me jealous. I did get used to the capacitive buttons on the ERIS, but my friend's Hero could always be pressed multiple times in a second; where as on my ERIS you had to wait multiple seconds within each press. Trying to back three pages in the browser was no sweat for him, but for...that's another story.

For me, 720p video quality isn't up there, but it wouldn't hurt. ;)

i'm hoping that the fact that the n1 has pinch to zoom is an indication that all future 2.1 and up phones will have this ability, they held off at first because apple and google had a gentleman's agreement, but after steve's little (not so little haha) rant i think they are sworn enemies now!!! so i think google will be glad to give out this new feature. btw on the homepage it sais you cant say android in any apple app sotre posting1!!! jobs has gone insane, he's outlawing the word android!!! he is the human incarnation of china!!!!

I think I read some where that the droid was getting the pinch to zoom upgrade through a google maps update so I am sure it will be the same for most devices. Found the link.

nash you nailed it on the head bro... I totally agree with everything you said.

I just hope VZ gets the sense ui version... I have a sinking feeling we'll see the N1 in March/April and there will still be no news of bravo/incredible.... and that will really blow. Do you really think VZ will release the sense version at the same time the N1 comes out?

I know google's going to be the one selling the N1 not verizon, so we have that going for us, but I'm skeptical about them releasing a nearly "identical" phone at the same time. What do you think?

I think now all of us have hosted (posted) a thread on this subject. It looks like we have all the info we will ever need. It's all down to next Friday for news.

If I may ask, what is the significance of next Friday? I know that HTC is holding a scheduled press event on the 16th at the Mobile World Conference. I would think it's highly likely that they will be talking about the Bravo at that time.

Today, CoolSmartPhone.com posted a pdf file that says the Bravo is going to be available on Orange in the UK in March. Not sure how that affects us in the US, except according to that article, they're still saying the Bravo is going to be the Passion over here. We'll see...
