Help Problems with phone

First of all I love this phone. Currently I'm still in the trial period with this phone and I haven't ported my number over yet from big red just to make sure that I'm ready to make the switch. The main problem that I'm having right now is that the phone constantly goes from 4g to 3g and back. Also it has a tendency to stay on "zzz 4g" even when I'm trying to surf the web. Is this a issue with the phone or is it just the service? My zipcode is 92707 incase anyone wants to take a look for me. It's incredibly annoying. Thanks for any help.

Sprint's 4G is a gimmick, and not to be used regularly, I am sorry to say.

The WiMax radio for 4G is a MAJOR battery killer, and it is very spotty for reception. Here in Chicago we have pockets of excellent 4G service, but it is very touchy, if you move too far in one direction it drops and disconnects. And if you have the best full bars of 4G you be lucky to get 5mb/sec download.

I only use the 4G like once a week for a few minutes at most, just when uploading pictures or larger files to people, then I turn it off quickly to save battery.

It's been well documented that having multiple RF radios (CDMA, BT, WiFi, WiMAX, FM, etc) on at one time will use more battery. That's a matter of physics. Sprint has in no way tried to hide that fact. From Sprint's very first 4G phone, the EVO 4G, Sprint issued tips and tricks on battery saving to customers. As a matter of fact, Sprint was not only the first 4G network but also one of few who actually allowed the custom to enable/disable specific radios in order to save battery. VZW's LTE HTC device goes through a full charge in less than 4 hours because they DON'T allow you to disable the LTE radio.

Wrong, at least in Atlanta. I have gotten 10mb/sec down with one bar less than full. I'm quite satisfied with the speed.

This is true for sure. The battery will get chewed through fairly quickly if you leave 4G turned on. However, if you are plugged into a laptop and tethered, it is pretty sweet.

I called into Sprint yesterday about a couple of issues I have been having since I just got with them and the representative was very VERY helpful. The main problem I was having was that I was getting roaming while in my home and phone dropping in and out of 4g. Apparently she refreshed my data services and the phone has been working like a champ.

I did read the thread about the phone having that issue so maybe my service will get even better.
