Root [ROM][DROIDX] ApeX 2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC4) (10/9/2011)

So I'm new to custom ROMs and chose APEX because of the praise to the increased battery life and overall performance. The performance has definitely been increased from rooted stock Moto.Blur, but I absolutely miss the Moto.Blur Battery Manager which absolutely saved my battery life. Using the BH6X extended battery on stock Moto.Blur using the 'Battery Saver' setting I could easily get 20 hours of use per charge, and I mean use not from 100%-20%. But after 3 days with APEX I've dropped down to 19 hours total from 100%-20%.

However, last night I totally drained my battery to 0 and charged it today to 100. So far its been unplugged for 6 hours, I've used it several times for texting and gtalk and I've lost 3% battery life. There is a possibility my battery is dead and therefore misreporting but I'm hoping this is a good sign because I actually do like the APEX ROM.

A few more updates:
I am having ENDLESS problems booting to recovery mode since installing APEX. Do I need to go about it differently? SOMETIMES rebooting through ROM Manager works and it never works through Bootstraper. It shows the bootlogo, but then a blank screen which can only be fixed with a battery pull.

I've noticed a significant reduction in touch screen response. Sometimes I have to swipe my notification bar down 10+ times before it does recognize the gesture.

I enjoy what this ROM brings to the table, but sometimes the downfalls really make me question why I chose a ROM over stock Moto.Blur. Yeah.

Not sure if this is a bug or standard with APEX 2.0 and it's rather situational but VERY inconvenient. If I'm browsing the market and boot up to the front page, do a couple searches, maybe check out some other apps made by the same author, look at some related apps... Really venture away from the home page. If I back out of the market using the 'home button', boot up another application (browser/gmail) which contains a link to a different app, the 'back button' forces you to back ALL the way back to the home page of the market before you can go back to wherever you were before.

Sometimes the 'back button' will also take me the home screen even when I originated from the app drawer.

I am using Go Launcher Ex and not the stock APEX launcher, but with Moto.Blur I never experienced these problems.

I came from Apex 1.4.1 without any probs using the AIO with no probs; however there are some bugs/behaviors in Apex 2.0 that I wanted to mention. Some may have been mentioned before but without a resolution:

1) I am having probs with getting the dual lockscreens if I set a pattern lock. I thought this was supposed to have been corrected previously, but I still have to swipe the defaut lock to reveal the second lock screen with the pattern lock.

2) I'm having some syncing issues with Gmail similar to what others have mentioned. It's sporadic. Sometimes I will get notifications and new mails show up, and sometimes nothing will show up and I will only notice new mail if I open Gmail in a browser. Also, if I delete emails via my phone, they don't get deleted in gmail. They don't seem to be marked read either if I read them on my phone. I can open Gmail in a browser hours later and all of the emails are still there and unread. I haven't noticed any particular issues with Calendar though.

3) I cannot get the Blur camera to install. I tried uninstalled the stock camera first, but it made no difference. I try to install via Root Explorer and the install completes with a "Application not installed" message and no further info.

4) When I do get email notifications, the LED is white. I'm used to it being Green for email, and I would definitely like to change the LED color if possible. Can anyone advise me on whether this can be done?

5) There is now no reboot option when holding the power button. This is pretty inconvenient when all I want is a standard reboot (not into recovery). Any way to get a reboot option to become available again?

6) The auto brightness setting also seems to be unpredictable. Sometimes it will work and sometimes the screen will stay really bright in a dark room.

7) I thought I was imagining things at first, but I just noticed that the appearance of the buttons and the dots at the bottom of the home screens randomly changes between two styles. One keeps the dots horizontally aligned with each other, and the other has the dots in a triangle arrangement on the left and right sides. One had the three buttons at the bottom of the screen smoothly joined together, and the other has the buttons separated with a small space between each one.

do you have a screen protector by any chance? is your screen dirty? maybe golauncher is the issue.. try a different launcher and see what happens

as far as i know, i dont think so, there are some ways to change the density and reset the phone to use that density, but it will cause alot of problems with other apps, and i guess the newest market is one of them, if you can, grab the old bwc, and grab bouchigo's market apk from there
vendor.apk (should be)

or ask him if he can extract it for you.

Has anyone else flashed the rc4 test succesfully? If so, can I get the md5 sum? 'Cause I just keep boot looping and I'm pretty sure its my computer's fault because it frequently doesn't download the whole file....

if fab hasnt released the rc4 to the forums yet, it means he only wants it going to his testers for the time being
