Alternate Upgrade - Verzion Nexus One....

Hello All,

I have a question that is directed toward the Nexus One (since I know how Verizon's upgrades typically work) .

I am currently on a family plan with VZ, and I use my family's upgrades all of the time (called Alternate Upgrade on VZ) to get a new phone for myself at the discounted pricing. My question is, how will this work, or will it, with the Nexus One since you are ordering from Google directly?

That's something you won't know until the Verizon Nexus One is officially released. No one at Verizon will comment on upcoming devices, and that will include pricing, discounting, or anything else. They may not have yet worked out how they plan to handle the Nexus One with current customers.

If they don't frickin allow a N1 upgrade at a reasonable price, I might abandon VZW. I'm due for an upgrade early March and I'll wait for the N1, if it's not out yet. However, I'm jumping ship if they mistreat long-time customers and don't permit upgrade pricing. I'm subject to the previous (low?) ETF.

By the way, the Blackberry Tour is a piece of garbage. I've had it since release and Android walks all over it... and it's faulty trackball and buggy brick-inducing OS.

T-mobile customers were offered a price of $279. for upgrades i think. i'll take that.
"previous low ETF?" not sure what that is, but all high-end devices will be subject to the $350. etf. No one qualifies for a lower etf on verizon. it is based on phone pricing.

On my Blackberry Tour, I'm subject to the $150 (or whatever it was before it jumped to $350) prorated down to $0 based on remaining contract life. The advanced devices $350 ETF does not apply to people who had existing contracts at the lower ETF.

I'd be okay with $279, too, but some other things will play a factor like support. I think he means his current handset has the lower ETF if he wants to escape the contract. Obviously any new purchase would put him on the current ETF.

You can't be threatening to jump ship just yet.... especially if the Incredible really does go to Verizon...

Does Alternative Updgrading even exist on T-Mo? I am assuming everything else will work with upgrades (key word being assuming), but I am more curious about whether people with family plans are able to upgrade with another member's upgrade discount....
