Help Any suggestions on how to save my phone from my own stupidity?

This morning I had my Infuse in my shirt pocket when I bent over to look for something in my desk, and long story short, my phone went for a swim in my dog's water bowl.
I pulled the battery as quickly as I could, towel dried everything and left it with the battery out and cover off to better dry off. Everything seems dry now so I put it back together, and with trembling fingers, held the power button. It booted up! :).
The problem is, the phone behaves like the "menu" button is constantly being pushed/unpushed. I'm think there could be some moisture in the innerworkings that is making the "menu" soft button activate. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've heard that putting a phone in uncooked rice for a day or two will help draw out all the moisture (the rice acts as a desicant, like silica gel.) I'm going to try this, but if someone else has a better idea, please by all means educate me. Thanks in advance, because quite frankly, I can't afford to buy a new phone off contract.

Thanks, I'll bury it in rice for 3 days and hope that will fix the problem. Yeah, I did pull the battery once I realized all was not well, and have left the battery out. I'm hopeful that the phone is not completely fried, because it does operate normally except for the whole menu button being constantly activated. I wish I had known about the rice solution before I put the battery back in.

I'm happy to report that my phone lives! So far, so good, my phone is behaving as if it had never taken a plunge. I guess I got lucky. In the interest of saving someone else potential heartbreak, here's some pointers I've picked up:
DO NOT drop your phone in a bowl of water. If you do, though:
DO pull the battery from the phone IMMEDIATELY
DO towel dry and drain as much water as you can
DO NOT put the battery back in
DO submerge the phone in a sealed container of uncooked rice.
DO let the phone stay in the rice for a few days, so that all of the moisture is dried.
