Returning the Bionic

Nope. Very happy with the phone. Coming out of a rooted OG Droid that was purchased right after they came out. Phone is tenfold better than the original in every way. In addition, I'm having none of the minor issues and annoyances that others here seem to be experiencing. Unlike my experience with the OG, I guess I lucked out and got a good unit. I went through 2 of the OG before I got one that was good, although I was never happy with the call sound from the earpiece on that phone.

Does that mean you feel that there won't be an OTA to resolve some early issues that seem to have affected some user's connectivity?

Not at all I know there will be an OTA that will address this among other issues. Problem is I couldn't wait for that. I have to have a reliably connected phone. Who knows I might end up with another Bionic one day

When I was comparing the D3 with the Bionic and the Charge, the one thing I noticed on the D3 right away was the terrible Pentile screen! On the Bionic it wasn't NEAR as noticeable as on the D3. I mean it was bad! Didn't even have to get close to the thing to see the matrix appearance. I could prob live with the Bionics screen if it weren't for the noisey headphone jack and its locked bootloader, but I'm not playing that 'let's mess with the consumer' crap. So I'm a waitin for the Vigor/incredible HD. Lots of folks happy with the Bionic. It's a powerhouse for sure. But I'm a bit more picky than most probably, especially in the screen department. I've got a HD Panasonic plasma for one reason;it has a KILLER picture! So yea,I'm picky... :p

Had the Bionic for about a week now and LOVE it. It will stay with me until the next upgrade cycle.

I waited a long time for the Bionic to go through all it's growing pains, and I don't see any real advantage for the Vigor, and I'm not sure that it's even going to be a 4G phone.
I've (easily) found ways to make the Bionic standard battery last a lot longer than it did when I first started using it so I don't have a battery issue with it.
Plus, the processer on the Vigor is advertized to be faster than the Bionic, but processor speed is NOT the problem with any Smartphone anymore. The major roadblocks to Smartphone use is still the network itself, and I can see a major difference between 3G and 4G when I surf with the Bionic.

The Bionic was worth the wait and money well spent.

From everything that I've seen, the Vigor IS LTE 4g. Droid Life recently posted a deal on its specs. http://tinyurl.com/VigorSpecs
And from what I've heard, the iPhone 5 WON'T have 4g which seems completely foolish on the part of Apple with nearly all the 'hot' phones coming out being LTE. They're behind the times with screen size, dual core and LTE...no wonder more people are going Android....too slow to keep up!

it's not foolish, it's genius. Apple will release the iPhone 5 without 4G, all the apply fans will buy it by the millions, and then six months later when atleast verizons 4G is pretty much everywhere, apple will release the iPhone 5 4G and all those apply fans will sell their iPhone 5's on ebay or give them to their wives/kids and go buy the iPhone 5 4G by the millions....

apple ain't stupid.

i thought about taking it back and holding out for the vigor, but other than the fact that that would mean using my crapberry storm for another few weeks, I don't like that the Vigor won't have HDMI out (I just watched an entire football game on NFL Mobile on my bionic last night, and I am going straight to verizon to buy the HDMI out cable after that). and if the vigor is anything like my Incredible (which I loved, btw) then it won't have nearly as good a battery life as my bionic. I think I may stick with the Bionic and hope this OTA update fixes my small 3G problem.

The bionic is hands down the best phone verizon has on the market. You can wait for the Htc Vigor and see what it is like but if it holds true to every other htc phone released the battery life will be crap. MOto support and updates are second to none. Waiting and hoping for a newer bettery phone is the way the story always goes. If you look at the release of the bionic the glitches and complaints are far fewer than any other phone verizon has released in a while.

Gotta remember one thing....we're in a slowing economy, nearly recession by all measures. I don't believe folks are going to want to spend twice the money on a phone. Few years back, sure maybe. Now,with all the uncertainty?

See, that is where you are wrong. It is economically proven that when money is down, entertainment is up. I guess it is the mentality, "Well I don't have the money to pay this bill, so what I do have, I'll go to the strip club." I think the same applies to technology upgrades. I know plenty of people who "seem" like they don't have a dime to their name, but you can bet you dollar they have the best TV's and the newest game systems with all the newest games.

The bionic is hands down the best phone verizon has on the market. . . . .

What???

Bionic is the best phone Verizon has right now, but it's the first phone I've seen that will get blown out of the water within 2 months of its release.

MOto support and updates are second to none.

Dude, no. My dad's Thunderbolt still hasn't gotten Gingerbread, and Ice Cream Sandwich is going to release in the next month. Not getting an update for a year after the OS release is NOT "second to none", unless by "second to none" you actually mean second to "no updates", which would be true.

If you look at the release of the bionic the glitches and complaints are far fewer than any other phone verizon has released in a while.

Sorry dude. But every other post on this forum is about returning the stupid thing. Glitches include dropping 4G and 3G, with an update not coming til November (there's that "second to none" thing again), a high pitched whine on music playback, PenTile display (which I won't even get into), quarter HD when every phone coming out starting in October will be full HD, washed out pictures on a crappy camera, dude the list goes on.

This thread, called "Returning the Bionic" should be called "Coming to My Senses".
