Root [ROM v028b] GingerDX v28b 2.3 by Doixanh

Hi doixanh,
Thank you for your impressive work.

Are you aware of a "bug" in android > 2.3.2? See here:
code.google.com/p/android/issues/ [split] detail?id=15631
(apparently I can't send links in my messages, so I splitted it...)
Is this something that you could fix if google doesn't?

Thanks again,

M. Natiello

You can try to reset your battery stats
charge you phone to 100% and then 2 hrs more
then reboot your phone to Xrecovery > advanced options> wipe batt stats

cheers :)

Hi

My phone is currently running 2.1-update 1 and I'm thinking I might give updating it to gingerbread a try, but having a look at the how-to I saw this in the requirements section

Requirements:
- Rooted Xperia X8
- xRecovery installed
- Latest kernel and latest baseband xxx015

If you are stuck in a boot loop it's because you have got an old baseband xxx006

Two things there I need to check out and/or resolve before I go ahead, the phone I rooted months ago and xRecovery was installed at the same time so that's all good

But my baseband version is xxx006, sounds like I need to update that, so how do I go about doing the baseband update?

The other thing is that I don't know what the latest kernel version is or how to get it, my currently running kernel is 2.6.29

Thanks for any help you guys can give me on this

Hi,
You didn't say which model X8 you own.
There are two different models: E15i and E15a

Download FlashTool
Download Baseband 015 and unzip baseband and put it into the Flashtool folder

connect X8 to PC
run Flash
select the 015 baseband and flash your X8

that's it.

cheers :)

Hey, Gabe!

I'm using v0.13 and everything is working ok except a few things:

1) I can't get ringtones from my SD card. On Settings I set up the ringtones I wanted, but when the phone rings it plays the standard ringtone, and even though I set it up to vibrate, it doesn't.
On the Messaging Settings I can't get the phone to get the ringtones on the SD card.

2) When I get an incoming call it shows "Unknown", even though I have the numbers on my contact list.

3) I tried to sync my Twitter contacts with my contacts on the phone, but it doesn't seem to work.

Is there any way I can fix these problems?

Thanx in advance!

Hi,

1a) you have save ringtones as .ogg use root explorer and copy and paste to /system/media/audio/ringtones on your phone
1b) you have to save SMS tones as .ogg use root explorer and copy and paste to /system/media/audio/notifications on your phone

2) incoming caller ids depend on your country's mobile company. my phone companies charge for caller id services.

3) I have no idea about Twitter cause I don't use Twitter. Sorry.

cheers :)

Hi,

You do not need to use the LinuxDX custom kernel
According to the XDA Webpage it is optional.
Your Xperia X8 will still work normally.

cheers :)

Hi,

You do a factory reset (full wipe) using xRecovery if you are changing ROM
You do a factory reset (data wipe) using the phone's <settings><Privacy> when you update a ROM

If you are using v15 you need to flash the +v15 Phone hotfix for stable wifi

cheers :)

Hi,

I think because some coding in v15 is in conflict with wifi settings
so hot fix is to be flashed to get wifi working.

I do not use v15... I am still using v13.
I think v14... v15 with the hot fix is not stable at the moment.
I don't like custom with hotfix... it shows that something is not working properly.

I will wait for a better version without hotfix...

cheers :)
