Many of you including myself have toyed with the andro-id rom and found it to work quite well. I was doing some wandering this even/morning and stumbled across the forum where that rom originates from and found out that a MIUI port was released for that same phone a few days back on the 15th! givin that the two phones are so similar what would be the odds of using that port to port it to our triumphs?

I tried to run the rom myself but was getting installation errors while attempting so I gave up. but you guys could always try for yourself

Currently I'm trying to contact tjstyle to see if he'd be willing to help

Woo hoo the newest version is very much like andro-id. Boots runs beautifully and calling works. No cam or data but its pretty solid! Damn this is nice!

I've managed to decompile framework from the MIUI. Since CM7 and MIUI are both 2.3.5 based (and if I'm not mistaken, MIUI uses some CM7 code as well), I should be able to code in the changes from CM7 into MIUI's framework and get 3G going.

Should I get RIL functional on MIUI, I'll try my best to keep up my "builds" current with the latest MIUI release. I've already fixed the keymapping issue.

Rumor has it that MIUI will release their sources after their MIUI-based phone is released. Let's hope that's true. It'll make everything SO much easier.

Isn't key mapping strictly from the kernel? If thats the case then fixing key mapping on later builds ought to be easy because couldn't you theoretically just drop the old kernel in place...

It's funny I was actually thinking yesterday and was going to ask you how much of the CM7 code was likely to work here.

At first glance how much is looking to be compatible?

That's correct. The only problem is all MT kernels being built right now are VMSPLIT 2G. You'll have to build a new kernel to support VMSPLIT 3G. You're more than welcome to try another kernel.

So far it looks ok. The program I'm using managed to decompile frameworks into something fairly readable. I was really impressed.

There shouldn't be any reason the RIL code from CM7 won't work. I just have to be choosy.

I'm trying to install this version of it
[Rom][WIP] MIUI Wifi Only (buttons reversed) - xda-developers
I keep getting
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")=="fb0" II getprop("ro.build.product")==fb0"

I even changed that and resigned it but i keep getting that error. I am also on the newest recovery CWM-based v5.0.2.3 by isaac.
I did a full wipe with a system format.
What am i doing wrong?

Why must you be choosy?

sweeeet miui!!!!

It is very smooth. There are some oddities I'm trying to iron out, but I don't really have the source so I'm just working with what I got. Here's some screenies:

WOOOHOOO!

I did it. 3G is finally up! Will put up a testable version soon :)

EDIT: I need to re-pull the whole Android source to fix some things. That'll take me a good couple hours. I'll post a test build hopefully tomorrow.

What's up for fixing? I noticed on the "straight-flash" almost everything was broken, but it sounds like almost everything works for the ideos models, so theoretically you could be mostly fixed, right?

Either way I'm really excited to get my hands on this tomorrow (hopefully). Thanks a ton (again) for everything you've done (and keep doing) for the development on this phone.

Yeah, I started with the X6 MIUI "port" from tjstyle. I decompiled frameworks and included RIL/3G support (plus our libs, which didn't seem to matter) and recompiled it. GPS is broken, oddly enough, but I already have a fix for that. Also, auto-brightness isn't working so I need to figure out what to decompile to fix that. The carrier label says "ROAMING INDICATOR OFF" even though it's fully connected to Virgin and I need to fix MMS. MMS is almost fixed. It sends a blank message and then I get something back from the network complaining about something. So, I'm close.

I'll also need to repackage everything (update the updater-script) to get it to flash with our recoveries.

this is great, I'm super excited to flash this, its been far too long without Miui, I was getting close to ordering the xaomi phone lol

I'm really liking MIUI, I'd like to bump it up to the latest build (1.9.23), but I don't have all the changes TJ made to 1.9.9. If he updates to the latest, I'll follow suit for us. If not, I'm still going to take a crack at it.

I was planning on putting something up today, but today's my birthday and I'm probably going to be better friends with beer/cake/gifts/my woman today than with my laptop. ;)

I've got some time for it tomorrow though. Check this section! I'll make a new thread for it.

Any chance I can get a demo of it? I'm digging the non 3g build I've got so far in the evenings, but I don't mind broken stuff if I can get a bit of a chance to help dig in. :p
