Help Play specific sound when specific email comes?

Hi

I have an HTC Desire with GMail and would like it to play a specific sound when a specific email comes in. It can be a filter for either the sender's email address or the to address. That part is fine, but I don't know how to get it to play the sound when a message is received.

Would the only answer be to setup a separate mailbox and get the email to come in via pop3?

Ideas welcome.

Cheers

I've had a look at the gmail app and I can't find a way to set a specific notification tone to a specific email address. I thought you could do it if you gave that email address it's own label, but unfortunately no.

I thought K9 would do it, but again no. The only way I can see is by setting a rule to forward to a different account and give that account it's own notification tone as you have suggested.

TBH, it's not a feature I'd have thought of before, but I can see why it would be handy.

What great timing! The new gmail update has label specific ringtones, so you need to grab the update from the market, and then set up a filter to label the specific email you want. Then in the settings there should be an option to change the ringtone for that label. I'm downloading the update now so if you get stuck give me a shout and I'll walk you through it :)

Edit: ok just in case anyone else wants to know, you go menu> settings>account settings>sync inboxes and labels, make sure the label you want the notification for is ticked, then go back to account settings and select labels to notify at the bottom, and you can set up ringtones from there.
