Hi, I'm new to all this rooting process. I have an unrevoked rooted evo with froyo 2.2 and Hboot 2.10. I'm trying to install the new gingerbread 2.3.3 and then get it rooted. I tried with the "revolutionary" method and in commands prompt it said that my device: supersonic with 2.10.001 is not supported at this time. I'm really stock since all the video tutorials that I have seen, use froyo with method to get installed the GB and it works fine for them. Does somebody knows what is the issue?
Pardon me for my ignorance about this, but I'm a novice in this rooting business.

ok first off do you have s-off? if the answer is yes then all you have to do is flash a gingerbread rom. if you do not have s-off and it is s-on then you need to use unrevoked. you can't use revolutionary as it is for hboot 2.15 and hboot 2.16. also it will not work on a phone that is already s-off.

Thanks a lot for answering. What I was trying to do actually was to install the stock 2.3.3 gingerbread for htc evo 4g that i naively thought had the new sense 3.0 installed with it, but i was wrong. So i decided to look for some other ROMs such as the synergy kingdom (one of its latest stable versions since the others were buggy with the new sense) that had it installed. I checked and my evo was S-off so I flashed the new ROM and it has been working pretty good with the new sense, just a bit laggy in the first boot.
So I have another question. The ROM that i flashed is the | ROM | Synergy-Kingdom | NIGHTLYS | 2.3.3 | SENSE 3.0. The problem that I'm having is that when i tap the personalize button in the right bottom part of the home screen instead of opening the options it opens the Virus website. Do you know if there is a way to change that, or is it part of the ROM?

That's a know bug on this build, if you open up your app trey and hit the rosie icon, it goes somewhere else. There may be a fix for it but it didn't bother me too much.

Hopefully an updated Eternity build will be coming soon but i'm beginning to think that it's going to be a while longer until he gets the Evo 3D builds the way he wants them. Then he'll bring it over to the 4G

I would suggest going here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html

Read through the OP and let us know if you have any questions. It should get you rooted and on to flashing the GB update in the rooted stock form or a custom rom with Sense 2.1, 3.0, or 3.5.

welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
like xtreme suggests use the dummies guide. unrevoked will work for froyo phones, while revolutionary roots phones with gingerbread.

and just to start good habits, never accept an ota if you are rooted or if you plan on rooting your phone. here is a thread that i create in the wake of the then latest ota for gingerbread and why you should not accept it:You Can't Root Your Gingerbread 2.3.3. Evo....BUT NOW YOU CAN!!!!!!. if you read the op and the many response going forward you will get the picture as to why you should never accept an ota.

hope that helps. and please if you have any questions please feel free to ask them.
