September 28, 2011 time doesn't matter somewhere in MA, Law in Order sound affects plays (dong, dong) here is my story. This is what happened. I was browsing the forums here and found the link for the Clockwork Mod tutorial I someone made. Just doing it out of curiosity and when I did the instructions step by step. When it it said to download any of the recovery to make the file path then copy the recovery that he they made to replace that one (which still didn't show up for me somehow) I restarted my phone for some dumb reason and got stuck at the LG screen from using the Sense Rom, and got the link on how to "unbrick" \your LG Optimus M, did that then went to LGNPST to re flash it back to stock and get data working. Which somehow I lost my MEID and everything got zeroed out. I found that tutorial did everything step by step and still was having trouble getting data working again. So I tried calling tech support the gave me the code for the service code, and I entered three numbers, still couldn't get data working. I decided to restore to my nand backup, and after when I did that, I try tech support again and they still couldn't reset the Meid. The next time I called again later on, gave me the number for there set service and this time it regected threre service code. This happened after when I did a nand restore. They told me I had to go to the store and there was nothing the can do anymore. I went to MetroPCS I told them a B.S. story that the LG updater crapped out during installation and it lost my Meid and couldn't get service back. He basically did the samething that tech support had me do with the service code and he had no luck either after three trys. After that, asked I I had insurance said yea I do, and they basically had to order me a replacement phone which I'm only paying ten bucks out of pocket. Will be here next week. Didn't think I would ever have to use the insurance but, glad I do have it. Pleas have a laugh over my stupidy, and will be back soon with my replacement Optimus M. Right now I'm rocking the Huawei M835 as a spare. Peace out :D

Umm that phone is totally fixable....

If you still have it shoot me a PM and we can get it workin again.

undacova is absolutely right, very fixable but I believe Metro takes your old one in order to process an insurance claim, too bad.

It's always best to ask here first when you brick and think all is lost with no hope, but I guess now you know for future reference lol.

i was told that replacement fee is $70 bucks? No one should have insurance on that phone. I mean the first few months if it breaks or falls i guess it fine. But after a year of paying, then have to pay $70 bucks, you might as well buy it at $100. Did that make sense? anyone?

Anyway, no offense to the other dev's but ive tried Bobz, Reppard and PlayfulGod's roms. They work good, and i stand by them. (I prefer PG's over them all, even though they are all very similar.)

Good luck.

BTW, It's only $50 bucks for a new LG Optimus M in Detroit after rebates!

I don't have the phone. They had to keep it. If I knew it was still saveable I would of definetly have you help me out. I thought it was f**ked so, didn't think to ask and didn't want to bug anyone. I'm lucky getting a replacement. but if it happens next time (which it won't) but I will definitely will ask for help for last resort. Thanks.

I bought that phone as well, I hated it, it is right now somewhere in my closet under lots of electronic parts :)

The M835 was my original phone that I bought because Metro was out of stock on the Optimus so I got this one instead. Once they had the optimus in stock online, thats when I purchased it two weeks after buying the M835. This phone does suck, but only going to use it till I get my replacement. It will have to do till then. :D

Its defiantly a lessons learned lol. I only had the phone for three months. Glad I had the insurance for a replacement. If they didn't have to keep my phone, I would of definitely had you guys help me out if I didn't think it was f**cked. Will ask for help next time for future reference. lol. Thats why I posted this for sh*ts and giggles :D

That m835 is horrible. My gf lasted one day with it before she wanted it trashed... However after flashing cm7 from pg its ok at best.

I'm going to have to try CM7. Using this phone for two days myself and already want to take my blade and stab it a couple of times lol. That's why its a spare. I can feel the pain your gf wet through with the M835. It just sucks ass and slow as hell. :)

I only had this phone for three months. Only to have to pay Ten bucks for a replacement is fine for me. I just can't spend a hundred bucks on a new phone everytime something happens. I do agree with you. After a year or it would be kind of pointless for the insurance. By then the phone would probably be cheap enough to buy a new one especially if its discontinued or refurbished. ;)

i had the same problem as you. I found a way to fix it if you know your MIN number and your cell number. if you did the get data working and it put your MEID on the phone but your still not getting service you can switch the phone to roaming and then dial the code on the dialer to bring up the edit screen for you MIN and atleast with my phone my min is the same as my cell number i just changed them both to reflect my number instead of the strange zero's or random zero's and numbers. I switched the phone back to Metro's service instead of roaming and rebooted phone works everytime for me.

Perfect example of ensuring you read everything there is to know about a phone before you go on and root it.

I had no I idea at all how to root but I made a damn good job making sure I read any tiny detailed comment about it before I did. It saves you this kind of hassle in the long run.

Still, that made me chuckle :p

I agree with you with reading every detail in such. I just dind't feel likedoing anymore research plus it was interfearing with my studies so thats why I brought it back to Metro and made a B.S. story. Defeinetly a lessond learned. ;) Glad you had a good laught. Thats the reason why I posted it! :D

The same thing happened to me when i was trying to downgrade lol. It was literally 4 days after i bought it too so i just brought it back and made up a BS story and got a new one. The best thing about it though was that the phone they ordered for me was already running 2.2.1 lmao.
