Got my new Sensation today, stumbling my way around to figure things out. One thing, which must be incredibly simple, but I can't find a way to do is to silence the little music snippet that plays when the phone comes out of sleep mode and you then unlock the screen. It almost sounds like a windows startup snippet. I've poked around in sound settings, but can't find the key. At any rate I would like to disable it. If I check email at night I don't want the startup sound playing and waking up my wife! Thanks,

Does this occur when you start up in the homescreen that has the weather and clock widget in it? If so it is the weather widget making a different sound depending upon the weather. If it is raining you get a sound like rain drops landing on a window and so on.

To get rid of it tap the weather bit (the bit around the clock rather than the clock itself). You will then get a full screen version of the weather. Then hit menu > settings and untick the sound effects box at the bottom. .

The phone has sleep mode as stock instead of power off unless its turned off (fastboot) so when you boot it back up from "sleep mode" it plays the boot animation
Yes I know that but most of us call it power down, even though it is not quite as power down as previous phones. That is I suspect because the option we are offered when we long press is still called "power off", not sleep mode. But it is not something most of us (or may be just me?) do often, because it is a pretty deep sleep - the phone doesn't take calls for example.

And again it does not seem to me that given that he is talking about switching on just to check emails.

Maybe the OP will come back and tell us what he means and then we will know.
