How often do you do it? (Battery Calibration)

Do you do this on a regular basis (eg once a week perhaps), or just when you upgrade firmware/rom/kernel etc. or perhaps when you restore from CWM as i assume the file the battery calibration app wipes gets restored in a CWM restore, so upon restoring, the data in this file would differ from the actual physical properties of the battery. Or is it just not necessary?

Also, there is a "wipe battery stats" (or similar) in CWM Advanced menu. Is this different to running the battery calibration app? If so, what does this do?

I only recalibrate if I switch ROM. The batterystats.bin file is a sort of lookup table to translate remaining physical charge into an accurate numerical display, so restoring it is fine.

The "wipe battery stats" option in recovery does exactly the same job as the battery calibration app i.e. deletes the batterystats.bin file. The only difference is that the app beeps to tell you when full charge has been reached.

i calibrate only after i flash a new rom.. somtimes even then i forget

Siyah kernel - says it recalibrates your battery every night if you leave you phone plugged in to charge.
sounds good, then presumeably if you're using this kernel never any need to da a battery calib???? (switch rom, add this kernel, calibration done for you)

i use the battery calibration app, and it says to charge to 100% and calibrate.. then they say its good to let ur battery completely drain, and then charge to 100% uninterrupted.. is this necessary? and by drain completely, does it mean to 0% or something?

yes. charge to 100% then discharge to 0% and again charge to 100% and thats it then u can use it as normal.

I was wondering, when letting it discharge from 100% to 0%, can I leave my screen ON with full brightness, and also leave a very battery intensive app running? AND turn off my screen time-out, so that the screen stays on the whole time?

Basically, i want to speed up the discharge time... but, would this interfere with how the phone calibrates the battery stats?

ah thanks. its a bit annoying to let it discharge completely and then charge it straight to 100% but i guess i dont do it often so its not a problem

Try one of those questionable vibrator apps and leave it running with screen on
But to answer your question, I only do it when I flash a new ROM.
