Xperia x10 (gingerbread) --- ringtone problems

I updated my xperia x10 to the gingerbread just recently.
I can't seem to be able to change the ringtone for calls/messages or even the alarm!

The options I'm given when I click on "phone ringtone" are:
-Android System
-SoundPicker
When I clicked on one of them, I had to turn the entire phone off to start because it froze...

I don't know what to do

You didn't upgrade properly.

Open Settings->Applications->Manage Apps-> look for the default media app or soundpicker and force close it.

Basically....there are remnants of 2.1 left on the phone that are causing the problem.

That is why they ask that you do a full backup of 2.1, then erase all data on the phone before upgrading to 2.3....including all apps.

Sometimes force closing the app, then opening the app will let the app recreate the necessary files and rebuild little databases it needs for you to pick a ringtone.

Sounds to me like an issue with the install....I once had a weird issue where it wouldnt let me change contact pics....reflashed the rom and its all good.
