***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

From Ausdroid.net

The other interesting thing I noticed from the photo is the line ‘navigationHidden=2‘ which using some common-sense would mean that those on-screen buttons at the bottom of the display will be able to be switched on and off and possibly have other functionality. Cool. I can’t wait for the big announcement.

Seems promising! Seems very promising!!

4.3 Screen at 1280 x 720 = 3.42 DPI

From the screen readout, the screen DPI = 320. Does not Compute.

1280^2 + 720^2 = x^2
x = ~1468

Calculated screen size = 1468.6/320 = 4.58 :eek:

Moral, wait till we get more info :cool:

I did it differently and came up with 4.33".

720dots / 320dpi = 2.25"
1184dots / 320dpi = 3.7"

2.25^2 + 3.7^2 = c^2 (diagonal)
5.0625 + 13.69 = c^2
18.7525 = c^2
c = 4.33"

If it's 1280, then I come up with 4.589"

I think most of these calculations point to 4.3" usable screen size..

The 4.6" values include the space set aside for the softkeys.

That's where the difference between 1280 and 1184 for the height are coming from..

Agreed. But I think that "usable screen size" will refer only to when you're on the home screen. I'd be willing to bet a farm (if I had one) that those navigation buttons will disappear depending upon the situation, giving you a full 1280x720 experience.

If the screen size is 4.6 or so and it has those large bezels at the top and bottom, this will be a pretty large device. I will love it. But there might be some who will not if the device is to large. Just sayin....
I have to say I am not a fan of the large rounded look. But the text resolution makes me want to cry. I can't wait to see this phone.

Seriously though, I'm digging it and I have to say, I'm glad I decided to wait for the last month with my upgrade and I didn't use it on the Bionic. While I could've dealt with some of the issues it has, I wanted to try something other than Moto and figured why not go for a Google flagship instead of a big red flagship. To whoever put the bug in my ear about the Prime in the Bionic threads, thank you kindly sir, now let's hope this thing lives up to it's hype.

I found a new cell phone on a bar stool last night with no buttons!
It's made by Samsung and it has the Google logo on the back.
I will take pics and give a review latter today.

Not so fast, that is my test device and just so you know we are tracking the phone through its GPS and have the FBI and your local police department along with a few Google Cops on the way to your location. Just come out with your hands up and the phone in hand and you won't be hurt!

Thanks for your cooperation....:D

First Live Nexus Prime Photo Appears, No Physical Buttons in Sight - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Not sure if that photo is real, if you look close, the last few lines of text are off of the screen (pointed out by people in the comments). Maybe it is just due to the way the pic was taken too but I don't know if its real...

I think that's a crappy version of the pic. This is from technobuffalo:

Looks okay to me. Just really close to the edge.

With the reflections bleeding from screen to bezel, I'm sure it's real.

I can't tell you what to do, but if I woke up in your shoes, I couldn't get that thing back to the Verizon store fast enough.

There's gonna be a whole lot of Bionic owners with buyer's remorse that's gonna set in next Tuesday afternoon...

I'm pretty sure that some users will be unphased by the release of the prime as the Bionic probably does exactly what they want to suit their needs. I almost became one of the others who would've been pissed! lol Something just told me to wait to see what else would come in the next couple months.

If you can get by with your old phone, return it.

I almost traded my TB plus cash for a Bionic but after seeing the list of issues and following this thread from the beginning, I'm glad I decided to pass and wait for the NP!

Hi everyone,

I just walked in the door with my new Bionic, all stoked up to post on the Bionic thread for the first time, and now the first picture of the Prime has leaked!

WTF!!!

Should I return this thing or what?
I'd take it back. Even if it turns out the Prime isn't for you when it's revealed next week, I'd still wait to at least see what it's about. You still might just get the Bionic, but you'll feel a whole lot better about it after next week.
