While true enough, their hardware margins are insane. They can actually afford to sell less hardware and still make tons of cash off it.

For now. Don't forget, this is the very business model is that made them plunge into nothing the first go 'round. If it wasn't for a huge cash infusion from Microsoft, and the return of Steve Jobs, they wouldn't exist right now.

The news stories I have read are pretty hilarious, here is a quote from an iPhone 4S article published by a local news station.

Stephen Coleman, chief investment officer for Daedalus Capital and an Apple investor since 2004, calls his Apple stock "the safest investment that I own." He said Tuesday's upgrades were "incremental" _ and praised Apple for not messing too much with a model that's working.
"To those who say they're underwhelmed, I'd say they've been fast asleep," Coleman said. "Anyone who's been paying attention at all would have to be dazzled by the product, and earnings."

What gets me , Apple waited a year and a half just for this and yes they added somethings but it was a let down for what many was expecting or predicting. I think the whole Samsung lawsuit is affecting them maybe supply wise and the fact that Samsung products have step up tremendously.

Some guy posted on Google Plus that the 4S is "innovative and revolutionary".

I think most iPhone users would have considered it revolutionary, but since they made the choice to keep the same design they all took it as a big slap in the face.

The specs are decent for 2011, but i definitely don't see how anything can be considered "innovative" if the design hasn't changed in over a year. There are quite a few people I work with that were upset. They all told me "Apple will be getting my money as soon as I can preorder it." Now they are all asking me questions about Android, and seeing what new devices are coming out. Their sole reasoning behind this is they don't want to look like they own "last year's model"

Which really goes to show that most people I know, consider the iPhone a fashion accessory, and don't consider the tech behind it.

The fact that pretty much the whole first 40 minutes to an hour was a re-hash of WWDC really made this an epic fail in terms of Apple product launches. Worst launch ever.

I think it's possible that many people see new management as violating their trust over what they waited for. And Wall Street felt that way, too.

I predict that their biggest boost in sales on this will be the people shifting to Sprint for the data costs as much as anything. We'll probably never know that, tho.
