Yes I took advantage of the upgrade offer and received a Magic. They didn't want my old dream and since they refuse to upgrade it I rooted it.

I did the update last night and all seemed to go well. Been playing around today getting used to the new features and the added real estate. One thing I noticed and not sure if I should be concerned is that when I am on Wi-Fi in my house and connected to my router the status bar at the top is still showing the 3G or H symbol at the same time. I don't believe it did this before. Does anyone else have the same thing and any worries that I am actually using data while I think I am on Wi-fi?
You need to change the settings for your WiFi in the phone. The default is that the WiFi will disconnect when the screen goes off.
Do the following from the home screen: Press Menu\Settings\Wireless controls\Wi-Fi settings\Press the Menu Key again\Advanced\Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Once there you can choose between three options.
I have mine set to "never".
There is an app that will place a widget on your screen and you can toggle between "never" and "default". It is called "WiFi Lock"
So, wtf. Am I EVER going to get my promised upgraded phone (Magic/Dream)? I mean, SURELY by now they have updated any phones in stock (or are they all gone from stock?) (or are they EVER going to have more stock) and I should be able to upgrade my phone.
Right?
Or am I dreaming in a pipe.

Yeah, so - tried calling yesterday. Roger's phone support gives message of "Please call back during regular business hours". Without actually SAYING what 'regular business hours' ARE.
SO - I see there is live EChat. After waiting 25 minutes, get someone online with me - tell him what I'm there for. "We do not currently offer customer support via live EChat - we are for technical support".
"Is customer support OPEN on Sunday?"
"Yes - 9-5"
Just called Roger's (10:55am Sunday). "Please call back during regular business hours".
SO - Apparently I will be outside of the Feb 9th-14th timeframe (I'm guessing Roger's is closed tomorrow for family day?). I can't WAIT to have this fight on the phone tomorrow or Tuesday.

I'm still upset that the stupid bug with QWERTY vs AZERTY hasn't been addressed yet. I won't even use my contract phone. I bought a 'clean' Magic and updated with a less buggy ROM. But even those of us with phones running otherwise better ROMs are having one really irritating problem, we're still prone to having data cutoff. I tested an old radio ROM for two days and sure enough got cutoff again. So I'm back to the new radio. What really pisses me off is that there are users who are using Magic devices and experiencing numerous problems.

However we shouldn't get too ansty and pushy, just wait for whatever they eventually do. I give up on their technology and motives. I only hope that they cough up a 1.6 for the Dream or offer an option to unlock and make them rootable so that people can make them useful.
Well there was news of other phones getting 2.1 in recent weeks, so here's hoping.
