If you like it use it.....BUT you can download aLogcat free from the market place and watch how the system frees up memory for itself....May change your outlook on running one....DID FOR ME!
Thank you Ryobi I was not aware of the lite version of TaskPanel. It sounds excellent and I will try it.
Finally everyone is starting to see that you NEED these app killers. There is no way around this crippling memory reallocation issue once you reach 30mb. I just wish there was a way to prevent unwanted apps from starting up and allocating certain apps to be removed from memory once they are closed.
OMG you have PROVEN what I have been saying the ENTIRE time. Just look at the log! Look how LONG it takes to free up memory! If you like it use it.....BUT you can download aLogcat free from the market place and watch how the system frees up memory for itself....May change your outlook on running one....DID FOR ME!
Explain to me why I need one if I'm not experiencing any problems.
Hey, if you're cool, I am too. No one says you have to do anything. If we think it helps our phone run better and we feel better because of it, what's the harm?
I'm not here to explain why anyone should use a task killer, nor do I care. I'm just stating my own personal preference.
Kind of how I feel, too. Seems pretty ludicrous for someone to spend far more time ranting about the need to use a task killer, than they could possibly ever hope to save by using one.I don't know how much memory is being used, and I don't care. As long as I don't have any problems, I don't think I "need" one.

After you reach 30mb and under you can SEE the memory reallocation being done and just LOOK at the times!!!!
Im getting constant memory reallcation processes running 150ms - 600ms per reallocation once im in the dreaded 30mb and under zone while using the phones web browser and even simple apps. This means that every reallocation takes almost 1/2 second on average and when looking at the log the number of reallocations makes it VERY clear that the lag is caused buy this EXACT process once you add them all up. LOLz!!!
This fit PERFECTLY in what what I have been saying all along and flies in the FACE of OftheDamned
Thank you for posting this. You have given me the tool for proving PROOF of this memory reallocation issue.
Seriously? You started all this garbage to somehow prove me wrong?
I am really flattered that you find me that important. I also think that finding a life might be in order.
In your post, that was all that was truly needed to be said to that person. Good job.
The rest is stuff that will fall on a deaf ear, I'm nearly certain.
You are probably right. He has not replied to a single one of my comments and I doubt he will now. I still find it incredibly odd that someone who has such a problem with me has yet to actually say anything to me.
Correct, when you're sitting there doing nothing or very little with the phone the memory reallocation times are small since the phone isnt doing much it does not need more memory. Once you start to run an app that requires a dynamic range of memory (like the web browser) you will see these reallocation processes increase in frequency and increase in time it takes to allocate. I have measured even 1038ms (1 second) for a SINGLE memory reallocation to take plase while using the web browser. These reallocation times become high and frequent when multitasking as well for obvious reasons.Seriously? You started all this garbage to somehow prove me wrong? Everything I have said from the very beginning has been about task killers not being a necessity for everyone. I don't believe that I have ever said that nobody needs a task killer or that they should be outlawed. I actually think that I have told many people that a task killer might be good for them if they have to run apps that are buggy or cause problems.
I love the little qualifier you have added in to your argument. Saying everyone and throwing in the below 30 mb is just too funny to me. It makes me laugh every time you say it. I really do question you complaining about 200ms being a problem though. Most of my times are in the 100ms to 250ms range. We are talking about a quarter to half a second here. It takes most people longer that that to actually type out the word second.
Since you have somehow decided that you need to prove me wrong, why this is about me I have no idea, I challenge you to list all the apps you are using and show everyone why you are below 30 mb of memory. I also want to know how often you clear your cache and how you exit applications. If you want to pove me wrong then prove me wrong.
*Quickly runs to the CP with this new revelation*

Its over, its aaaall over.... Now that we have UNDENIABLE PROOF please stop posting about how you dont need task killer apps because android is linux based and reallocates memory as needed for I and some of the others here have proven that you DO indeed need a task killer app running for that EXACT reason, to avoid the reallocation process.
PERIOD.
Newsradio, no offense, but don't you think it's kind of ridiculous that you are making a point to go out of your way to basically call someone on the internet an imbacile. I don't know you, nor OTD, but I have to say that it is quite childish and ludicrous to target an individual you don't know to make them look like an idiot. You are making an ass of yourself. Just the facts please.
For the record, so as to have something in my post that is remotely informative and on topic, I did utilize a task manager for a couple of weeks and have since uninstalled it with no ill effects. I'm not saying this is the way everyone should do it, but I, personally, do not require one.
Now can't we all just get along?
I think you have handled the situation in an appropiate manner. The really funny part about all of this is that he can't really make me look like an idiot. The things that I have been saying don't really have a right or wrong answer. The only thing I have been telling people is to try things without a tk and see how it goes. The link in my signature is titled that way because that is what the page title is. People have asked for my opinion and I have given it. The only reason I ever responded to the idiocy of this thread was because the title was so far out there. The whole idea that everyone should be doing something or not doing something because one person says so is just stupid.
