***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Now do I get the Prime now (been waiting to upgrade OG since August anyway) or wait for the Note in 1Q12?

I say get the Prime (or whatever its called).

My reasons: (1) It will be a Nexus/Google device, so that means updates straight from Google. (2) A lot of people are at the end of their contract with the OG Droid, which was a huge phone and has a big development community for it; AND as a Nexus device (completely open/unlocked) with the first access to OS updates it will attract a big development community....therefore, I expect the development community for this phone to be GINORMOUS!

If you've owned an android phone you should know this is a big factor - if lots of devs own the phone and make ROMs and kernals for it that adds a lot of life to the device!

I don't care what it's called. I want it to have the awesome specs we are anticipating (screen size, good screen, 1.5blah blah blah), and would love it to be an actual Nexus device (although that may or may not be a necessity, depending on everything else). Aside from those, they could call it the Nexus f*cking piece of sh*t. As long as it hits the main points, I'd carry the Nexus f*cking piece of sh*t around in my pocket.

Thanks for all of the balanced views all. I'm speculationed out. There is so little REAL info that this thread just keeps going in circles. Negativity is understandable but there's no reason to keep reading it over and over (for me). I'm heading off to see what I can collect up to sell on Ebay in order to save up for my Prime. I have a DX but it has a freaking scratch across the front of the screen, which will hurt the value. If there's no prime, then I'll have extra money to put in the bank. :)

I've been looking forward to this since before there was a Nexus Prime sub-forum. I'm just out of contract on att with my nexus one (bought an iphone 3gs then sold it to buy my nexus when it came to att). I will go to whatever carrier gets it first. These next six days can't pass quickly enough.

Edit:
On the phone-tablet theory, while it is indeed unlikely, it's a neat idea. What better way to prove ICS is a Gingerbread-Honeycomb love child than to have a phone that could switch to the tablet UI when docked with the "gutless" tablet.

Finally got caught up to all of you in this thread, been reading for a week or so, since page thirty something I think...it's good to hear I'm not the only one fired up about this device. Switched to T-mo and got my first smartphone when the nexus one came out two years ago. Eligible for upgrade November 10..........LOVE MY NEXUS ONE.....only one problem, broke the screen this summer. I sure hope Google will reward all of us they got hooked on the Nexus brand two years ago with this sweet looking device. However, T-mobile's unsure future is worrying me!!!!! If it just came out for att, would it run on t-mobile's network, I know there are people using iphones on t-mo's network?????

If you read the poem it does not say that Verizon is getting the Nexus Prime. The Nexus will ride world wide (GSM) and Verizon will be getting a Droid.

With that said, I still say that Verizon will release a SGSII-HD variant and by the sounds of it, It will include ICS with bloat boat as well.

If there is any Verizon , Samsung ,or Google rep that can say I am wrong.
Please post here in this thread saying "Vandy you are wrong".
Other wise I will stick with this idea.

Don't forget me...Cindy! I posted way back, but it wasn't the most technical post! I'm learning so much technical stuff just lurking about here and reading your informative posts. I was one of those people who just wanted a phone to talk on. Boy, you guys changed my mind on that one. There's so much else going on with this phone! Can't wait for my upgrade October 27th...hopefully the Prime will be out by then or shortly after.

Good to see you, Cindy!

OMG....I think I figured something out! According to the poem, by the time Halloween rolls around we'll be able to get our hands on Prime (filling our bellies with something other than candy treats) Because the word "Fore" in the poem is a shortening of "BEFORE"! Which means the Thursday before November 3rd, or October 27th!

Happy Halloween to Me!

PS: Thanks Han for re-posting the poem so I could see it clearly.

The poem says

"Perhaps your palate will cast a ballot, for an ice cream sandwich instead.
With an internal date now set and LTE a sure bet,"
Meaning first ICS phone with LTE (AKA Verizon, confirmed by "you shall in fact be able to buy in stores of red and black").

"But those who pay other masters don

I have noticed that as we get closer to Oct. 11th and the announcement from Samsung and Google that we see more unsubstantiated rumors and much more opinions.

I completely understand that there is a difference between the two, do you?

Opinion = a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
Rumor = a statement or report current without known authority for its truth

Oct. 11th we will have the answers we have been looking for, it will be reviled for all to see what rumors become facts and if we look back through this thread it will become apparent that much of what was rumored by those that had the knowledge to in fact leak those rumors was true and some will be proven to be wrong...maybe just to throw us off track when we were getting to close to the truth.

Opinions will be owned after Oct. 11th, some will have their opinions proven correct and some will have their opinions proven wrong. Who will be on the winning side after this is all said and done?

Who has the most to loose and who has the most to gain?

if you want to get technical, the poem doesn't even mention Nexus until relatively late in the poem (after reference to "red and black"). at the beginning, all that is said for sure is that a LTE device, with ICS, will release on VZW on 11/3. then it goes on to say that the nexus brand will ride worldwide for other carriers that use GSM and WiMax.

then, in the conclusion, he says "be it a Droid or Nexus branded new toy..." Well, the only nexus reference was with respect to GSM and WiMax radios. so, one could conclude that the Droid reference was to the one going to "red and black".

personally, i don't think that's right. i think VZW gets a pure Nexus device, as numerous sources have been indicating for months, and then it comes out on other carriers a little later. i just don't see Google introducing ICS, with LTE, on something other than a traditional Nexus device.
