Help Droid Bionic wont turn on

I am now having the same issue. It didnt start happening until I got the extended battery. Dont know if it is related or not. I did a battery pull and that took care of it, but it has happened again. If it does it again I am going to put the other battery back in and see if it happens then.

After a week of use, my Bionic (with extended battery) started turning off by itself, requiring a battery pull to boot again. I don't know if this is your issue, but what solved my problem is going to Settings --> Battery and data manager --> Battery Mode and selecting the "Performance" option. Apparently the battery saving modes are buggy.
Mine is on the nighttime savings mode, and i have it on a dock all night, I dont know if that is enough to bypass the issue.

My phone would randomly shut off while it was sleeping and I couldn't turn it back on till i removed the battery, it happened like 2 or 3 times. Then I went to the battery mode and turned off the night time saver and put it in performance mode. I haven't had the problem since.

I think that the problem is more on the stock battery rather than the extended as you can see here:

Have you had a Black Screen of Death with your Bionic? - Android Forums

I had it happen once but i was monkeying around with the phone trying to learn all it could do and installing a ton of apps at the same time and I think I caused it, I had the extended battery at that time but as I said I may have caused it, it has never happened again.

My phone kept shutting off by itself and I would have to do a battery pull to get it back on. I tried this yesterday and it has not happened again. I had turned off 4G and I kept losing my signal. I turned 4G back on and I have not lost my signal since. (I do not have 4G service where I am). Thanks to dberthia !!!

I have the extended battery as well and I see this happen about once a week now. I notice it during the day, so I am not sure how performance mode fixes this since daytime operations in night mode should be the same as performance mode during daytime. But, it's sure worth a try. Having the phone turn off and not knowing about it really is a pain!

I got a black screen of death with my extended battery and did a battery pull to try and get my Bionic to turn back on. After an hour of not being able to get my Bionic to turn back on (plugging it in showed the battery 100% charged), I finally put in the regular Bionic battery and was able to get my Bionic going again. So in my case,...bad extended battery! I'll be taking it back to Verizon for a replacement this week.

How's it working out?

You can't draw that conclusion from that poll. You would need data that you can use to determine the percentage of each type of battery user exists. Speculatively, there are going to be less users who have the extended battery so in terms of absolute numbers, it would be expected to see a lower number of extended battery users with the problem. I suspect the percentage of each type of battery that have the BSOD problem is much closer to each other than the poll might suggest.

And it has happened again with the stock battery. I did follow the link and read the debugging process from moto as suggested above. It never created the debug file.

yeah, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for most people when the phone is locked up, that's too bad because, based on the comments by the forum manager over there, i think Moto is clueless on the cause.
