The LG ESTEEM is out now.... Who's switching???

WoW @ above #s - I need to stop coming into this thread:eek: - makes Esteem even more tempting -- but glad you're enjoying your new phone -Congrats!

I'm not worried about rom development since i can do that on my own. The phone just needs to be rooted. I dont really care if this phone gets rooted since this phone is crazy good even stock. I will take a stock esteem over my roooted optimus anyday!!

Well i just got the phone (LG Esteem)and i think its sick. Its pretty quick on tha 4g and i got every super Nintendo and Nintendo game ever made on this thing with the emulators and it works just fine on all levels despite the specs. And after comparing all the specs to all the other popular smartphones out there (I phone droid HTC etc.)they all are in the the same ballpark not much difference at all when it comes to specs.as an electronics tech electronics can be real tricky not all devises are the same and they arnt made always perfect because electricity aint constant so just because your phone sucks dont mean mine does. you dont know till you try it in my opinion it depends on what you like.im still learning its full potential after almost a month of owning this crazy thing I recomend it. i got two words for you,"NO CONTRACT!!!" :)

NOt worth the money.. if im gonna shell out that kind of money i will just buy a phone/tablet with screen thats 5x larger.. sounds good... maybe for a trade in old phone and pay 49.95..then i would do it...but anything over $100 is a waste of money..for a phone anyway.. however if you want it for Gaming..lol then i guess its worth it.. no 4g in my area either.. 3g just started showing up. as far as the net goes i only do lookups and minor stuff that doesnt require wifi or fast net... but hey ..im a noob.. just got my optimus M right before xmas from my sister inlaw. still debating a root on my phone... once a stable ROM with all working features is out i will give that a try. hdmi out sounds cool tho for the new phone... other than that..im still noobing all over my Optimus M

The data speeds are making it something to think about. I'm not around WiFi all the time. When I'm not I would really appreciate the faster speeds. It would make helping out here that much easier. The only draw back is the network. At least with VM I get to use all the Sprint towers.
What does Metro PCS have?

There's already at least 6 fully functioning roms for the om and don't expect much more development. I used to think the same but trust me there is a difference of night and day between this and the esteem. And most decent phones are over $100 WITH subsidies

I was about to switch to the esteem from my Optimus M. Then, I discovered that switching my phone from auto (cdma/3g) to just cdma made it much faster (totally serious).

Now, I'm happy and keeping my Optimus until they get rid of cdma completely.

Screw MetroPCS for capping 3G at slow speeds to force people to switch to "4g" phones.

I find it depends where you live and how frequent the 3G towers around you are. In my area most of the coverage is 3G unless I go too far out the metropolitan area. To me it appears faster than 1x but not by far.

Have you tried the 3g speed increase tweak found in the admire forum, it seems to improve speed for most

I did try this and i believe it works. I havent done any speed tests yet, but downloads off the market are noticeably faster. Im interested now to see what other Optimus users get out of it.

Ive been wondering if this would work for OM users. I have to try this when i get a chance. I need a speed boost. Service in my area is good but could be a tad better

Your saying that a dual core HTC phone is the same as this rip off LG?

Sorry, but your wrong. $350 for a year and a half old phone is WAY too much.

i just brick my good optimus m, i think i just going to get it

If you look in these forums you can find out how to unbrick your phone, so don't just give up on it, even if you do get the new phone. I never have given up on my OM, and it is still rocking, and I am making new mods for it now as I speak, I am working on combining some of the work Kelso has done with some work of one of our kernal modders, and if it works I will be posting it in forums soon, I am new at working on improving android phones, but not at making mods in general, I started with computers, and now taken this up as a new hobby.

MetroPCS uses Sprint towers, but capped on 3G.... on 4G probably the same towers, I did a speed test on Metro's 4G Samsung phone (can't remember name) and it got like 2MB/s pretty decent for a phone on metro :D
