Help HELLLPPP!!!! boot loop!

ive just flashed my s2 that had litening rom on back to 2.3.3 ke7 for the uk now all it does is stick on the S boot animation! what do i do.......

Did you do a FULL wipe (data/dalvik/partition) before flashing to stock ROM?

ermm nope a friend said i didnt need too ......

With power off... Hold volume UP button + Home button + Power button and see if you can reboot into Recovery. You may then be able to select wipe for cache/dalvik and under Advanced.. partition wipe. You should then be able to boot up and restore your app's/data via Titanium Backup (if you have it).

im in recovery mode i have 2 options

wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

yes i am its successfully booted and its like a new phone gotta go through setup again whats next?

2. You can press my "Thanks" button until your finers bleed.

3. Go and sort your "friend" out who said you did not need to wipe.

4. Read up on everything to do with rooting, ROM's, flashing and restoring... before you do it!

i will gladly take all your advice and i will of course frantically press your thanks button youve been a massive help! dont suppose you could explain betterbatterystats and how to stop these wakelock things cant get my head round half these battery saving tips im looking for a simple to follow guide

Sorry, I don't use BetterBatteryStats, Juice Defender or Task Killers. I tend to find that most of them are a waste of time or use more power than they save.

The only thing I do when I flash a new ROM is to re-calibrate my battery using BatteryCalibration, free from the Market. See here:-

Are you not going to root your phone now that you are on stock ROM?

You could try booting into Recovery, (you know how to do that), and using the volume key, go down to "Advanced" and press the Home key. Then you should have a menu that contains, "Wipe Battery Stats". Navigate to it with the volume key and select it with the Home key. Then reboot you phone and charge it until it is 100% charged + half an hour. This will reset your battery calibration to your new ROM. It only needs to be done if you change ROM's.

i think im a complete tool! i have no idea how to root with a stock rom i read the guides and it went straight over my head, im now going to cry in my room lol all i want is a stable phone with a battery that lasts more than a day because i only use it lightly and it still drains.....

in adroid system recovery all i have is reboot system now
apply update from sd card
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

spoke too soon i followed the instructions on the video you gave me earlier regarding rooting and it seemed to have worked i have cwm and superuser but when i tried doong a backup on cwm it didnt work, so i tried the manual way went into recovery mode and there was no.option there

i bow to you're wisdom any idea??


ps i have titanium bsckup pro and that seems to be working fine

Bit vague I'm afraid. What happens when you select Backup in CWM?

You are obviously rooted as you have SuperUser and Titanium Backup Pro is functioning.

Hi guys,

I was running the latest version of VillainROM and after trying to flash stock kernel and rebooting, I am getting a BOOT LOOP at the VillainROM startup screen. I tried connecting to Odin in download mode but ODIN is not recognizing the phone. (I can get into CWM recovery and Odin download modes, but odin is not recognizing the phone!)

Please help out. I forgot to take backups using CWM before installing the kernel and now I am not able to connect to the PC either. Is there any way of flashing back the old kernel/ROM using external memory card? Will the device be recognized by Odin if I use a USB jig? Any suggestions? I would be really grateful! Thanks.

PS - Wiped all my cache (Including Dalvik cache), formatted SD card and still stuck in boot loop!

Hopefully you still have the original Villian ROM .zip file on your SDCard (not the external sdcard).

Just go into Recovery mode > install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard... navigate to your original Villian ROM zip and install it. Reboot after installation.

Hope this works.
