Just published app - big problem!

Hi, I just published my first android app and right off the bat someone left me a ONE star feedback - with no comment!

I put a lot of work into this app and I priced it much lower than competing apps and I'm afraid that this bogus rating was left by a competitor.

I understand that one can mark feedback as spam via the market, but unfortunately I only have a Google Developer Phone and so I cannot access the paid market section.

So if anyone can help out and mark this bogus feedback as spam, I'd really appreciate it. I just want my app to have a fair chance and I'm fine with legitimate criticism, but I feel like this feedback is just an attempt to kill my app before it gets off the ground.

Oh and the app is called:

TimeClock by Spotlight Six Software

It's a nice little app to track your billable hours.

Thanks!

Brad

Instead of asking us to rate some other comment or rating as spam, you should've just asked us to rate and comment your application.

Real genius. We could've just went and check it out and if we liked it enough we'd cancel out this "spam" you speak of.

Either way, I purchased the app because it sounds like something I would use and would make predicting my paychecks a lot easier. But like I said I'll use the app as I wish and I'll comment and rate as I see fit.

Maybe mine won't be considered spam.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that the ratings were separate from the comments.

dynodroid, I agree, I'd much rather get legitimate feedback (good or bad) than complain about possible bogus ratings. Hope you like the app and look forward to your ratings/comments.

It's just a shame that there is no way to prevent a competitor from sticking a one star rating on a brand new app, thereby dramatically reducing it's appeal to other potential customers (since all they see in a search result is the app with one star next to it).

Small point, They are quite separate the rating is a ranking bases on the numerical vaues 1 to 5. Were the comment is a purely verbal statement and has no numerical value ... hence they are separate and distinct.

You can assign a rating of 1 to 5...yet leave no comment .... So an app with great ratings could soar to the top of rating list (their ranking) ... but could have horrible and wonderful comments or no comments...

So, I think you should be able to see that this isnt a totally fair and just system for buyer or seller.... but it is what we have ... and by word-of-mouth in forums like this ..hopefully the cream will rise to the top.

Dude, chill out, it was one rating. And it might've been legit. Sometimes people just don't feel like leaving a comment, and that's valid. If your app is as good as you say, the ratings will bear that out over time.

As a user, I don't go by stars or comments, I go by both. Negative comments often tell you more about the person writing than they do about the software! Sometimes they don't know anything about how their phone works, let alone the app in question. Some people have unrealistic expectations of both their phone and the apps.
