Help Battery Issues on Latest Update

My battery life SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS after the update. My phone is always warm to the touch with zero usage. This blows! Battery dead after 4 hours...

I thought I was the only one. I updated yesterday with my phone fully charged and when I woke up my phone was dead. So I recharged and my phone barely lasted a day and it was warm this does really suck. I thought moto tested these updates before they release it to the public. Is there anyway to uninstall this update?

Prior to today's update I would get 2-3 days out of my battery. Since the update it seems to lose about 10%/hour. I won't even get a full day out of it now.

I'm stock except for beautiful widgets and that has been on for over a month. I know 1 day isn't enough to gauge it but I'm pretty bummed right now.

All of these reported battery issues but...has anyone looked at their battery usage to see what is causing this?

My upgraded phone.

On Battery 4hours 12m
Battery Percent Left 70%
Status: Good Health
Temp: 89.6 F

Battery Usage
Display 44%
Phone Idle 29%
Cell Standby 7%
Android Sys 5%
Android OS 5%
Market 3%
Wi-Fi 2%
Motorola Serives 2%
com.motorola.home 2%
TeleNav GPS Navigator 2%

Update: 10/14 - I went 14 hours unplugged and was down to 40%. Still seems normal to me.

My battery seems normal post upgrade. If you continue to have problems, just restore your phone and see if that helps. Especially you people that are reporting warm or hot phones.

I did check it and it seemed normal. Well I did a hard reset and will let you know if it helps if it doesn't I guess I have to go to the sprint store.

Same here guys. As soon as it was installed I noticed the phone stayed a little warm. My phone could go 2-3 days before being plugged in and now i'm getting the same thing, about 10-15% battery used per hour at idle. I'm going to let it settle in and see what happens. I'm just relieved I'm not the only one.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to remove an update?

From personal experience, my battery problem with the update was due to some conflict with WidgetLocker. Once I disabled it, my battery life returned to normal (I had been experiencing the exact problems noted here). I've heard similar things with GetJar and other seemingly innocuous apps that worked fine before the update. If you don't want to do a factory reset on your phone, I suggest removing/disabling apps one at a time to see which one is the trouble maker. Personally I'm going to try reinstalling WidgetLocker next week to see if the problems return.

I use widgetlocker but I've been on my cord all morning, so I'll unplug and not uninstall to see if I have the same problem.

Will report back later.

EDIT: I should also say that I've noticed that it is charging slower than normal, so I may be having the issue after all.

EDIT 2: Off the cord at 11:35 AM with 62% battery.

You could flash an older SBF file taking you back prior to the update. You won't lose data, apps, etc. but you will get the notices to update. In this case you can edit the build.prop file in a text editor to "fake" being updated.

UPDATE: Battery life back to normal!!

I noticed the voice command program on task manager, which i rarely use taking up 16mb and at times i would notice it using the processor. I also took Citizen Coyotes advice and disabled widgetlocker.

I disabled widgetlocker and froze both the voice command and widgetlocker programs with titanium backup pro and my battery life is back to normal.

From: 10:12am to 11:43am it has only gone down 2%. A couple txts and 1 short phone call. Way better than the 10-15% it was going down per hour before just sitting idle. Its also not warm anymore.

Update: From 10:12am to 12:58pm. Only gone down 3% Battery life might even be better than before now.

If I had to guess I'd think it was widgetlocker causeing the issue.

1:13 PM and down to 48% (includes about 30 minutes of BT music play)

Vast improvement since getting rid of Widget Locker, but still significantly worse than normal.

Did you try rebooting the phone after disabling WidgetLocker? I have not noticed a significant change in my battery life now that it's back to normal. Seven hours unplugged, and down to 68%.

Wow. Did the update earlier today, re-rooted, and plugged my phone in to top it off while I was at work. The USB charging slowed to a crawl (it was taking over an hour to go up 1%). I was prepared to restore my phone, backed up everything on TiBu, and checked back on the Forums one last time and saw this thread. Deleted Widget Locker and it is now charging at the normal pace. It was also slightly warm before, certainly not hot, but is cool again. I agree that Widget Locker seems to be a problem.
