Anyone in UK got Nexus one on orange?

my contract with orange is up on the 11th of this month.

ordered my nexus one on wednesday, shhould arrive monday or tuesday.

quite happy to renew with orange. should i just say ive got a nexus one and just want a sim only deal, or just renew another 18month contract but get a better package.

my contract jst now is unlimited txts and 400 mins.

my new contract i want is 400 mins, unlimited txts, unlimited internet and maybe some free picture message allowance,

think that is realisitc? should i not mention im getting a nexus one and try get a free phone from orange aswell?? lol

I just use an existing contract. I looked at trying a SIM only contract but there seems to be a different internet package with SIM only packages - with a lower internet fair usage policy (if I remember correctly). I guess its just a matter of comparing prices between a SIM only contract and a renewal of your existing contract, which of course would include some kind of 'free' phone. The Nexus One works fine on Orange - you don't have to mention to Orange you are getting one. In fact there staff would probably not know what you are talking about!

Go for o2 simplicity 700 mins, 1400 txts, unlimited web for 20 quid a month ;-) add a bolt on for 7.50 extra e.g unlimited o2 to o2 calls. Bargain and o2 don't cap internet usage like Orange, I think Orange is something like 750mb per month.

That's the one I'm going for when my current SIM contract runs out.

My advice to you is to decide whether you prefer a small monthly saving? Or you can renew your current contract and eBay the upgrade...

I'd of done that but really don't want to be tied to a contract ever again, as we all know new phones are constantly being brought to Market.

I for one prefer the flexibility to sell my phone for the next best thing when / if it comes along. For now though I am more than satisfied with my Nexus One, after having an iPhone since 2007, android is a welcome and refreshing change

I've thought Orange weren't too hot at customer loyalty to be honest - push them hard for a good deal and they won't budge..
O2 have been a good provider for me, and assuming the signal is still there (I'm in the sticks and anything more than 2 bars 2G in our house is a miracle), I'll renew on a SIM only for 12 months..
I've ordered my Nexus with a view to keeping it 12 months as a minimum as the 12mo SIM only contracts seem good enough.

If they won't do you a good enough deal, get you PAC and go somewhere that will!

that o2 simplicity deal does look good i must say.

only thing is orange give you a magic number every 6 months, i have 3 now. basically the 3 people i talk to the most are set as my magic number and i can call them as much as i like and it doesnt cost (i.e doesnt use your inclusive mins)

I have the simplicity deal. Is very good value for money. Have just discovered a problem though....

Was at Victoria station on Friday evening at rush hour, and every single train gets cancelled due to signal failures at Clapham Junction. No problem, I think, I'll just use my first ever smartphone to check on nationalrail or thetrainline to see what I should do.

....fail. Wouldn't load any website. A quick look around reveals about 50 iPhone users all with the same idea, all probably on o2. Vodafone might suffer the same problem too now, which is a shame as they were my second choice what with having a 3G tower about 5 mins walk from my house.

Look at O2 and t-mobile. Typically a sim only deal will cost u more than signing a contract for 18 months with the most expensive phone you can get and selling that phone. The 18 month contract is kind of irrelevant if that works out cheap enough per month.

In some cases you can bring your monthly cost down to close to 5 pounds.

Dont bother with 3 unless you live inside a major city and dont expect to ever move out of it Their reception is really terrible, particularly as they use orange as their 2g backup. Orange are also terrible for reception. Having said that, its usually more improtant for people to check the signal at their home and work, since thats where you'll be most of the time.

From personal experience i'll never use orange or 3 again.

I think we all have issues with service providers. Similar to the two posts above, I would never go back to T-Mobile because I couldn't even make calls in two of my last homes.

O2 is supposed to be 3G here too and it isn't. Orange however seems to be good around this area.

Anyway, I'm moving to a new town soon so I'll wait till that completes to make a decision on who to go with next.

Well rang O2 for a PAC code and they suggested a new SIM card might help. Also...as I'd been with them since 2001, they offered a loyalty discount on top of any Simplicity costs. New SIM is in the post so I'll see if that helps before moving over to 3 or Voda.....

I'm surprised you've had such a poor experience with 3. I've been with them for years and only ever had good experience - sure their signal isn't everywhere but I've often got signal when other don't.

It's also the UK's largest 3G network.

I'm on Orange. Tried 02 as it was cheaper, but never could get a 3G signal in the office or at home, so worth paying a bit more for Orange where I can get a good signal, though I only get 500mb data a month, I never use that much,

Maybe their customer services has improved now!

They share the RAN with t-mobile, which means they share 3G towers with T-Mobile.

They also use Orange for their 2g. So its not entirely true to say they're the UK's largest 3G network Depends how u look at it i guess.

Ah that explains why my 3 mobile stick is so poor at home - I get no Orange signal either!

Definitely see which signal is best in the places you are most.

Oniongirl, you have reminded me of the happy days of when I used to commute and Euston kept being shut for bomb alerts - you'd never be able to make a call on your mobile then! I would have thought you would have had the same problem whatever network you are on - they can't cope with such spikes as when a major station shuts?

I was at Wembley for the Nfl game last year, and could I surf the BBC website at half time? Pah! Neither could hubby on t-mobile.. Still he watched the cheerleaders instead lol..
