So I got an ipad and its a neat device, it really is. It can do a lot and its easy to use. BUT...


I had a question, and I found a forum just like this one. Well I posted a question about podcasts. Three days went by, nearly hundred or so views no response so I followed up on the thread by asking again. Still no answer after a day or two.

I thought I had a rather simple question, basically. Why do my podcasts delete from my ipad when I sync to itunes?

Fast forward to today....

I was on the ipad forum today and happend to come across a thread about the the updates. Well one guy didn't like something about the new iOS update. He got flammed for being an Apple hater.

My whole point of this post is...YOU guys got it good here. People are willing to help and for the most part you guys are civil, respectful and don't flame people for having a difference of opinon. And as a first time smart phone owner you guys really made the transition easy! I want to thank you guys for making forum is really enjoyable!

I was on the iPhone forum before, they flame on you if you aren't an absolute fanboi -__-

I kinda rant (only a little bit) by not having a way to bluetooth stuff to my other phone, and all they did is flame on me, saying you don't need that stuff, you're a hater, iPhone doesn't need that because (some stupid reason) blah blah blah.

Why do my podcasts delete from my ipad when I sync to itunes?

I don't have an iPad, but a quick look around the internet makes me think:

Do you delete the podcasts from iTunes on your computer? If so, that's why they are removed from your iPad when you sync. iTunes is your master, and the iPad/iPhone/iPod are copies of iTunes. Anything in, or not in iTunes is altered on your device when you sync.

Let me know if I'm right, like I said, it's just a guess. My 79 year old mom has an iPad. I like my ASUS Transformer better, but I'm an Android fanboy!

I was reading something just this week (can't remember where unfortunately), and someone posted about iPhones not having a replaceable battery being an "oversight". I couldn't help but laugh - is that how blindly loyal people are, to consider that nothing but a slight "oversight"? And no one said a thing about that comment.

After all kinds of versions of all their products over the years, a non-replaceable battery is nothing but intentional. In v1, you MIGHT be able to convince me of that. In my mind it's inexcusable.

Just one minor thing, but a definite example of the country club attitude.

i think you need to right click on the IPAD in itunes and select transfer purchases before synching.
my wife has an ipad and i cant stand it. seems everytime i hook it up to my PC it erases something even though i have it set to not sync anything.
here is a kicker for you as well. if you update to ios5, it deletes all of your data and you have to restore from a backup. wtf apple? really?

iPhones not having a replaceable battery being an "oversight".

It's rumored that the upcoming Driod Razr (or HD, or is it Spyder) will not have a replaceable battery (seen here). The issue seems to be creating a propriety battery to fit the ultra thin form factor.

That has probably been Apple's reason for non replaceable batteries. But being an Apple non-fanboy, I always thought it was so they could get more money out of you by forcing you to send the phone back to the factory/store for a genuine Apple battery.

Neither one I bought (16 gb for my wife, 32 gb for me to replace our 7" Nook Colors), was at the fire sale price ($99, $149). In fact I paid almost $100 more than that.

They are out there and prices are coming down, but you'll probably have to spend $200 or more. Try pawn shops, craigs list, fleebay or Amazon (new & used).

I bought two 32GB version, one for me and one for my fiancée. I paid $149 a piece

That reason doesn't make any sense. Proprietary batteries are made all the time. I could understand if the issue was creating a battery for an ultra-thin form factor that could survive a user pulling it out/putting it in repeatedly. But that has nothing to do with it being proprietary.

I'm not sure if they made the 3g versions. Most are wi-fi only.

Don't forget, we're not just talking the iPhone here. I don't believe they have released any version of the iPod that had a replaceable battery either. So am I supposed to believe that every other manufacturer has figured it out, but it's just not possible with any Apple devices?

I think Apples original intention of not making the iPhone with a consumer replacable battery was to nip a possible problem in the bud. That was the possibility of the customer replacing the iPhone battery with an aftermarket battery that could have possibly been the incorrect voltage and causing a failure of the internals of the phone. Then the owner putting the original Apple battery back in and getting a warranty replacement. An unintentional plus for Apple was the customer having to return the iPhone to Apple for a battery replacement if so required.

As an aside, the non-replacable battery was one of the stumbling blocks that caused Verizon to originally turn down Apple when they approached Verizon about selling their iPhone way back when..... AT&T didn't have a problem with the non-replaceable battery and the rest is history.
