Help DInc2 Speaker not as good as DInc1?

I've seen a lot of heat on speakers on these fora, but not a lot of light. I don't seem to be the only one who thinks the speaker on the DInc2 is not as good as the speaker on the DInc1; but does anyone have a clue why? I could lay my DInc1 down on the seat in the car and still hear whatever the device was playing (especially Gordon Edwards' Scanner Radio app) completely intelligibly regardless of the ambient noise level. With my DInc2, even with the windows rolled up, the HVAC and car radio turned off, and the phone in my shirt pocket, I can barely make out what's playing. Even my wife, not known for her audio engineering skills, has noticed how thin and tinny is the sound on the DInc2. Perhaps I should have taken up the VZW tech droid on his offer of a Droid X2; however, the other problems I was experiencing with my original DInc led him to suggest I'd be better off with the DInc2 than the X2; and for the other functions the DInc2 offers, it's a great piece of work.

Except for the speaker...

So I'm hoping we can have a civilized discussion (man, were there some flame wars in other posts!) as to what may be the cause of this thin, tinny sound, and whether there is a way to improve the sound of the DInc2 speaker.

Thanks, everyone.

Trust me you don't any model of the Droid x

I had 4 Andre 1 x2 in a 7 month period

The speaker is quieter for sure, and it might be software based because some sounds, depending on where they're coming from are extremely loud for me . Placing the phone face up when you're trying to listen through loud speaker is a nono though because you completely muffled the phones speaker, so make sure its facing up

For me, not having grrat hearing in the first place, the speaker is useless when on the phone, but i am able to hear the navigation voice just fine, which is rather odd and makes me wonder if it is just some software glitch.
+1

Everything else coming out of the speaker sounds pretty decent to me, expect when you use it for an actual phone call...

I can't imagine expecting to seriously listen to music out of the microscopic speaker in a smartphone, but hey - everbody's different.

The speaker is, in, fact, not very loud on the DInc2 , even for the speakerphone function, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. For music, in my car I plug into my car stereo so that I can utilize my 8 speakers + subwoofer rather than rely on a dinky smartphone's speaker.
