the only time i have ever got the removable hard drive popup with the (phone f usb driver folder) is when my mt is booting up. It has never show when plugging or unplugging the phone in.

it only shows about once every 10 times i boot the phone, and when it does shows its only been up for about 3-5 secs then the drive disappears. Not enough time to run the software!

It doesnt matter if uninstall the driver in device manger, disable it or anything else i could think of, Ive even tried to do it unstall it in USBDeview. no luck

Ive even tried my laptop running xp, no luck, main computer is win 7. using factory usb cable, factory sd card, my phone is in orginal condition (not rooted)

thanks for all the help

I also tried nukeing the sd card as suggested on motorola site

1. Download anycut from the market (free)

2.select "new shortcut"

3.Select Activity

4.Choose "Select COM Port Mode" (should be in the "s" section)

5.Then Hit "ok" dont rename

6.Go to homescreen and click on your shortcut "select com port mode"

7.Next make sure that "diag" is checked and not "Mass Storage"

I found this fix on this forum and it worked for me. But when I first did it, I saw that "disabled" was checked off for some reason, so I actually switched it to "Mass Storage" and that fixed the problem.

Have you tried enabling usb debugging? This solves many peoples (including mine) issues with usb prompt. Also check the auto play options on your PC - sorry, I don't speak XP, but on 7 it's start-default programs. I had the opposite problems from you - constant attempts to link and prompts from PC - so I set to never auto play. GL

sorry I should have updated this, phone must be activated, to connect to computer. Once i activated it, it began to function fine, just pops up f driver install all the time now

jg, after you activate it, do you just plug it in to your computer and it pops up, like a SD card would?

Where you do you keep you're music and videos on your card?

Thanks for the help, newbie with the MT.
