Do you think Telus(canada) will get the phone on opening release day or will it be a few weeks after? I was going to get the HTC Amaze from Telus but it turns out they wont be releasing it for 3 weeks so I thought I might as wait for the Prime. But if it turns out they will release it 3 weeks after every other carrier gets it then ill be mad. Is it that big of a deal they will have it on opening day?

I currently have a LG Shine Plus with a shattered screen. Its usable but I need to get a new phone. As its going right now I might just go with and iPhone and when I get my upgrade Ill go back to Android. This is because currently Telus doesn't have any Android phones I want. I do want the amaze but like I said its a 3 week wait and who knows about the prime. But they do have the iPhone 4s. Its all pissing me off.

Is telus better than other carriers? I live in Canada as well but in a smaller city near Toronto. I own a prepaid phone so don't really use it much unless for calls from work but my friends told me to wait for this new phone and should get it. But problem is I don't know which carrier is the most efficient or renowned in Canada. Bell, Rogers, or Telus and their sub carriers like Virgin or Koodo.

Also is caller ID really needed? I mean paying like extra $5-12 for it is just ridiculous while in US and other countries from I've read get caller ID for free...

Thanks :)

If your anywhere near a major city (ie. Toronto) chances are you got good reception with Telus and just about any other carrier. As you get further away form major cities, some carriers are better than others in certain areas. Best bet would be talk to people around your area who are on various carriers and compare their coverage.

This is Telus' 4G (HSPA+) coverage (I think dark green is 3G, doesnt say like on the BC site). 4G Network*|* TELUS Mobility

Call Telus, tell them you are thinking of signing a contract (know a plan you want just ahead of time) and say you are looking for a carrier and seeing what they can offer of plans and things with call display, etc. and say you are going to see what Bell/Rogers will offer or when they give you a price say Bell or Rogers gave you comparable plan for $5 less and if they want your buisness they will budge.

They'll have the info about what carriers are getting it and when?

I wasn't implying that.

It is well known that Canada is one of the most expensive countries when it comes to wireless costs. Talking to the carrier's retentions department is the best way to get the lowest priced plans. For now, your best bet is probably to look at past device releases. eg. Samsung Galaxy S 2 was available in Canada before anywhere else, while the Samsung Nexus S was available in Canada 4 months after it was available in the US.

How did you find out its 3 weeks away for the HTC Amaze? I have been looking at the SGS2 they have "coming soon" on their site for weeks, even called last week to get an ETA and no one has any flippin idea. I really want to see if and when the Prime comes to Telus when it is.

HTC Canada posted a tweet. Telus is getting the galaxy s2 x on the 19th. I remember seeing it on mulitupal websites. Sadly it isn't the international version.

I find Telus has great plans and great costumer service. I was looking for a carrier that carried the international version of the galaxy s2 in canada, but noones plans came close to te one I have with teus for the price I pay. Like I mentioned their coustumer service is great. One time I messed up my data usuage and my bill was something like$300. They payed for a big chunk of it.

Man you guys rock, Telus does have good plans for the money. One thing is that is it possible to kinda manipulate the plans when signing up the contract? For example the promotional plan for social is $45 with no data but almost everything is unlimited. Possible for me to ask like $5 for caller ID as an add on? Or like the Voice and data plan $50 comes with 500mb data. But for caller ID and unlimited text is $15 able to ask like $5 just for caller ID.

I know I should ask them myself but I don't know exactly what to expect and Ill probably freeze up during the conversation on the phone. Just wanted to hear from you guys on your behalf experience. Would be great if this phone comes to Telus whether or not I can manipulate these plans.

I really want to see it in action before I buy and see what the real difference is between it and the international version. No wonder I didn't see that my BB twitter decided to not reinstall. Surprised customer support didn't know with it being only less than a week away from the apparent date.

It has the qualcomm chip set that is not nearly as the exynos good, and a bigger screen. None of the custume roms from the s2 international will work on it because its a completley different phone. The biggest difference will be the lack of developer support.

Btw for caller ID, is it really needed? Like if someone calls me or text (ill mostly use the phone for texting) will it just be brought up in numbers or nothing if i dont get caller ID? But if I do get it, it'll show up as their name?

Also how do some people have unlimited data plans? Are they from past promotions? Any upcoming ones that people would know?

Thanks :)

The callers number will show up if you dont have it. If your have it there name will show up. I personally don't want caller ID for like $7 a month. I find it unnecessary.
