anyone else seen this? whats your thought on this guys take on the situation....

Why the Galaxy Nexus Won't Matter | TechnoBuffalo

Actually IMO, most of his points about Android seem pretty fair in the article (and some are actually complimentary), but his conclusion is off. Honestly if he changed the title of the article, there's really not much to pick at other than his conclusion, and maybe 1 opinion on the stability of iOS vs Android. Still, overall when someone titles an article like that, it almost seems like flame bait ..

I always expected the Apple stuff to be much more user-friendly and intuitive although I'd never used any of it; i just didn't wan't Apple. I got an OG Droid and then a Xoom. Finally, I won an Ipad 2 and got to compare it head to head with my Xoom. There are certainly some things the Ipad 2 does well: there are more pad optimized apps for sure, the screeen is less reflective than the Xoom which is a bit better and the screen seems to smudge less. However, that's about it. I find it less intuitive in nearly every respect to my Xoom. The battery seems no better, it doesn't respond any faster or better, and I just can't find all the reason for the hype. It's nice but I wouldn't take it over my Xoom any day.

Given the Iphone runs the same OS I can't see how it can be so much better than the GNex. Honestly, I don't see how it can be anywhere close to as good. There are lots of people who love the Iphone and Ipad and I'm glad it makes them happy but I'll have none of either.

Was going to say the same thing. The title of the article is VERY misleading and he really doesn't bash Android. What I took away from it and what I agree with is that ICS/4.0 needs to bring something new and refreshing to the table. I don't like iOS at all but it's very polished something I think Android is lacking. In that same breath Android is a better OS and with some polish it will unstoppable.

Has any open source os ever been unstoppable? Polished or not? The problem is there are more non-geeks than geeks. All these open source os' leave it to the operator to customize it to their taste. Most people want to be told what they want hence the need for bootloaders and bloatware.

Can you believe I still get told by people that one of the reasons they don't want to come to verizon is because they don't have to pay for gps with sprint and they have to pay extra for vz navigator??? I don't even try to explain to them anymore. I just shake my head and walk away.

You mean you didn't read all 9k+ posts before posting? How dare you!

:D:D:D:D

I actually don't know much (code for not knowing anything) about the Aussie carriers, and just hoped you would be pointed in the right direction. So, I am glad to know I at least helped answer a question you had.

I don't get all the hate over a phone or a corporation. Support Apple or support Google. Whatever floats your boat. In the end it's just technology. If you prefer an iPhone that's fine. It's your money. I had a 3G and a 3GS and then I got bored. Could I ever go back to an iPhone? Maybe.

This is just like the Ford vs. Chevy debates. There is no BEST option, only the one that works best for you personally. The bottom line is that most of the smartphones out today are light years ahead of what we had 3-4 years ago. Competition is good for the consumer. Enjoy your phones.

At Corvette show all day today, and I come home to read a few hundred posts of......not much. Seems everything is quite normal. :D

A stock 2002 'Vette is rated at 350hp, and yet they typically only produce about 300-320 at the rear wheels (rwhp) as I'm sure you already know. So why aren't you complaining that Chevrolet cheated you out of 30 to 50 horses that you paid for? ;)

(Any similarity of this example to the complaints about being cheated out of 96 pixels due to ICS software buttons is purely coincidental.)

Because car torque and horsepower are done at the crank. 300-320whp would equal a bit under, even or a bit over 350hp.

Advanced OS? Not even close. You quite simply can't do nearly the amount of things you can do on an Android Phone with an iPhone.

I dont know about that. I think what you meant to say is that IOS can do much of what Android can do, if you like to jump threw hoops and like challenges.

no info about that yet :p

but as its already announced and the exynos 4212 is just a higher clocked version of the SGS2's soc while everybody expects quadcore for 2012, it would be stupid to use the 4212 in their next big flagship (SGS 3)

what do you want? are you jealous because i've got unlimited access to the la la la land, and you don't ? :D

I would guess this is Q3 at the earliest as I do not believe any A15's will be ready sooner than that. Qualcomm Krait S4 is expected to be the first next gen processor and should be VERY close to a clock for clock rival to A15 and will probably be the ONLY Q1 next Gen processor. So for Q1 and Q2 next year Krait is what you want to be expecting for your phone. I actually think Tegra3 will be a very good bet early next year if you are mostly worried about multitasking and gaming anyhow as it will not only have 5 cores it will also have NEON which was one of the main drawbacks with many uses on Tegra2. And I think the 5th core will be a god send for standby battery.

Yeah, but my Corvette puts out closer to 620hp. ;) Can't add pixels to a screen like I can bolt a supercharger to mine.

Wife's vette is still pretty much stock. That is unless you consider she painted it pink.

Excellent post!

In my opinion, I think the frustration comes over not having the “perfect” situation. Some of us have Verizon, the best and fastest network in the U.S., but not the phones that we would enjoy the most. When we see other, “lesser” networks get better hardware, it can be disappointing because having those phones would make our experience so much better.

Others are on “lesser” networks, with no LTE or no unlimited data, but have higher quality phones. Unfortunately, they feel that they cannot get the best experience because they have super phones but without the best network experience.

So some of us are a little tired of the compromise we have to make, especially in light of the money we’re all spending on a month to month basis. I know I’ve come across as a Verizon hater, but I’m not, really. I would hate for them to go out of business, they generally have good customer service, and their network is excellent. I just wish they would make my experience the best possible.

I understand the Verizon frustration. If I could get better coverage and service on another network for a cheaper price I would consider it. I had AT&T and they were OK. Sprint and T-mobile aren't that great in my area. I like Verizon, can't wait to get an LTE phone and their customer service has been great for me. I also get a 24% discount so it's hard for anyone to beat them.
