Wait for 2.1 on Hero, or Go to Moment

I like the HTC Hero, and I think HTC Sense is very cool, however. The Samsung moment is starting to catch my eye. I have a buddy who likes the hero, and we might trade, so I won't have to wait for a new contract update. I like the Moments Screen, Speed, and Keyboard. The Flash (camera) is also a plus. I can download better keyboard which I think is great and have a great Hardware and software keyboard. I know I am switching from 7 screens to 3, but that doesn't really bother me.

My question is not when 2.1 is coming, I know everyone is tired of those threads, but Rather is Sense on top of 2.1 Going to be any different that Sense on 1.5? I know 2.1 has a load of features, lock screen, google directions, 5 screens, live wallpapers, updated market and much more. But is HTC Sense going to add anything cool that would make me stay with the Hero. I dont want to switch and then when 2.1 on the hero comes out, their be something awesome on the Hero. I know no one has facts, and their are just rumors, but what do you guys think?

If so, it'd be relatively safe to assume that 2.1 with sense on the Hero would suit you better than 2.1 without sense on the Moment. Especially considering they're both supposed to be coming at the same time.

If your decision is based on hardware, and you want a hard keyboard and a flash more than you want sense, then get yourself a Moment.

don't forget that the Moment has a problem of going into a pseudo airplane mode on it's own.. what I'm referring to is the phone will show an X for signal strength and if you try to make a call it will tell you to exit airplane mode.. however, if you check, airplane mode isn't enabled.. the only fix is a reboot of the phone... now this may not be a big deal.. to me it was a deal breaker since I'm on call 2 weeks a month for hospitals. First and foremost it's a phone.. you'd expect it to receive and make calls 100% of the time.

now, there are a lot of Pros for the Moment.. faster processor, AMOLED screen.. HW keyboard..

of course the Hero is a breeze to root and there are a LOT of custom ROMs out for it.. not so much for the Moment..

I believe the airplane mode mess on the moment was fixed with the update recently. Which is a pain to get due to having to go to a repair center...

Remember 2.1 really is just eye candy then anything else. I no longer have the Hero awww i now rock the DRoooiddddddd!!!!!! and i can tell you if your waiting for 2.1 to make a decision merh on you. I would stay with the hero it just feels and runs better overall. But if you want a keyboard well then the moment is for you

I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade or turn this post into a "mine is better than yours" shouing match, i just have both phones and get to compare them a lot of the time.

I have a Hero and my mom has a Moment. She loves the Hero more, but is too used to the hard keyboard so she went with the Moment.

The flash on the camera is nice, but it comes at the expense of some Megapixels, the Hero's camera is a 5.0 Megapixel where the Moment is a 3.2mp.

The sense widgets are very nice on the hero, as is the sense ui. IDK it might just be me, but the home that the Moment uses(3 screens) looks outdated and plain, where the hero's menus and overall look seems more appealing.

The Moment's screen orientation is a lot faster than the Hero and the onscreen KB also seems to work smoother w/o the lag and the P and spacebar are easier to hit.

Neither phone is rooted and i know some of my terminology is wrong, but this is how i see both phones stack up.....also i think you run out of space too quick with 3 screens and your apps/widgets look too cluttered vs. the 7 screens on the hero.

I have both and I would tell you to stick to the HERO, when I use an APP killer I do not notice any more speed with the Momet. the color on the moment is bluish, and found many apps that work on the hero that does not on the moment

here.. you will get mostly bias answer toward Hero!

You might want to ask in the Moment forum.
and see if they have as much activity in the Moding arena.
support by great community as the xda and here.

in the end... it is your opinion and what you value most;
will make you happy the most.

that said... dont be silly...

stay with the HERO!

I had the moment and had nothing but problems with it. A few friends of mine were "diehard" physical keyboard people and they also did not like the feels and lag of the Moment. The hero "unrooted" will also have it's slight lagginess, but not to the same extent.

I would trade with your friend and see if you end up missing your Hero or not. That would be the best test I can think of.....if you don't miss it, then get the Hero

well.. since the title of the thread is wait for 2.1 on Hero or go to Moment.. yes, you did ask if you should go with the Moment.

as far as will Sense on 2.1 add anything extra.. no one knows since it hasn't been released yet.. but it would be kind of pointless to have Sense if it didn't offer extras compared to vanilla 2.1 don't ya think?

From the photos of the Incredible and Legend, it looks like the 2.1 version of Sense will look identical to the 1.5 version. No word yet on what, if any, new widgets will be added. I'm just hoping for a lot of backend and usability improvements.

Remember 2.1 really is just eye candy then anything else.

This couldn't be more wrong, especially when compared to 1.5.
