The flash/led is a non-issue, as it takes so good pictures as it is.
Why do you need more internal memory?
I have no problems with it, and that it has a 4Gb SD card is more than enough.
The battery life is okay, I get a days use with a lot of use on it.
Very good phone in my opinion!

Yep it does have 300+ mb of phone memory, to put this into context - htc desire had about 130mb at launch. I have a desire and about 100 apps with that space. Its not going to be too much of an issue as most apps only take up three or four hundred kb of space. You will lose about 23mb to the adobe flash update but you should have plenty.

Its a great phone if you don't mind the small screen size.

Guys what do you mean you can't download apps? It can't find some apps in the app store or is there a different problem? Also, I've read in a review that the screen although marketed as scratch resistant gets scratched very easily compared to motorola and samsung phones which use gorilla glass. Anyone can confirm this?

I have no clue what they mean.....
If they haven't got an insight in that you can move things to and from the external SD card, then I don't know......
The glass (as delivered) has the splitter shield already mounted! I have heard some people managed to scratch it (with sharp objects), but then it's just to remove it and attach the regular screen cover!

Just got the Xperia Ray (Black) for a few days and here are some quick hands-on opinions from a first time android user:

- The phone is pretty responsive right out of the box (smooth transistions etc.)
- Screen is good and crisp, but the Bravia engine didn't WOW me
- Downloading apps is fine using the Android Market, I installed Swype no problem too
- Typing with the default keyboard in portrait is a joke
- Internal memory after a few days use is already down to 150mb (with 8gb external)
- Battery life lasted 2 days with minimal use and checking emails (10% left, full brightness)
- Dust is already accumulating in the gap all around the edges of the screen
- Camera is good and very fast when taking continuous shots
- Speaker is average, definately not Sony Walkman quality
- The back cover gets hot sweaty when doing CPU intensive tasks
- Camera has no flash setting, you have to manually turn on the light switch then take photo

Text input in portrait problem, download something like SlideIT keyboard worth iphone skin and that be sorted.

Sounds like you don't clean your cache, download a cache cleaner from the market. You will be surprised how much memory you will get back :)

enjoy

for battery life, discharging from 90% it has been 1d 7h

38m voicecall (2G)
1h display on, mostly at 40% brightness
6h 28m wifi on

it's now at 53%

i guess i have small fingers, because i found the errors i make is about the same as typing portrait in the x10, which isnt a problem to me

the great thing about this phone is that its small

I have been using this phone for the last one month, and i have found no issues with it! The screen is an absolute stunner! The only gripe was the cramped keyboard, now with the 2.3.4 update, they have introduced gesture input in key board (like Swype) and 3D sweep panorama and a host of other features. I am all satisfied with this one!

Dont know about a splitter shield (whatever that is) but believe the Ray has "Dragontail Glass" competitor to gorilla glass which is super tough and scratch resistent,

Can you recommend a good cache cleaner? Have had similar issues with HTC Salsa, getting hold of Xperia Ray, looks like a great phone but would like to keep cache clear as possible.

Thanks :)

good to see u still on the Ray or Xray as some wiseguys call it...

however i have tried all cache cleaners and finally realised that android itself clears cache as and when needed.best you can do is move apps to sdcard and avoid some usage of the cache.
ps.
i had in earlier post asked honourable members to post their favorite apps but somehow there were few takers.
