Motorola and Verizon just slapped us!

I bought the BIONIC knowing full well that there were going to be more phones in the coming months. But you just have to stop and take the plunge at some point, and when and where you do it is gonna be entirely up to you.

My DROID was getting old, and inching toward oblivion, and I needed a new powerful phone that could do many many different things - so I got the BIONIC. Buyer's remorse? Not really - I researched it thoroughly, and I got he phone I wanted.

And, like someone said above- I will never, ever *EVER* have a phone with a non removable battery. Period.

Perhaps you have a bad phone? I have no problem with my multitouch. Maybe the problem is with Swiftkey. Personally, with Swype and the stock keyboard, I see no reason for anything else. And I have yet to find a picture that really looks bad on this screen. I still think it's the PERFECT screen for a phone. Combines form with function perfectly.

Maybe I got a bad Atrix and 3 bad Bionics that all do the same thing. I tested the multitouch bug a lot with different phones and I could only make it happen with newer Motorola phones.

I don't think the screen looks bad all the time. It does struggle with a lot of colors and images though.

Not only that but if you have used Swiftkey on the Bionic you probably noticed that if you type too fast the touchscreen will delete your words thinking you swiped back to delete it. The Atrix does this too so its not just a Bionic problem but it sucks because I can't even use my keyboard of choice.

FWIW, I had the Bionic for a couple of weeks, using Swiftkey exclusively (white theme, because I vastly prefer it and was used to that from the first version.) And that deleting words thing never happened to me.

It may be that I am more of a 'type a letter or two and see if the prediction is right' kind of user, though.

I type fast and I tested it a lot. If you tap one letter and tap another letter it will register as a swipe and delete your current word rather then continue typing. I have used Swiftkey with the same settings on 3 different Samsung devices, an HTC device, and 2 Motorola devices and have only had this happen on the 2 Motorola phones. In order to get Swiftkey to not do this I have to change the advanced gesture area to 100% of the keyboard and you lose the ability to quickly and easily delete words.

200Mhz will not make any difference in day-to-day usage and will likely just drain the battery faster. The camera and screen improvements seem to be HUGE and likely the main improvements on the RAZR. However, I see the fixed internal battery as the biggest deal-breaker possible.

What I would LIKE to see if a device for the real mobile warriors who need the ability to swap batteries. Basically, a phone that melds the best attributes of the Bionic and the RAZR:

The RAZR's CPU, screen, power management tweaks, and cameras but with a slightly thinner version of the Bionic's formfactor (removable battery and all). ICE & 4.5" Super AMOLED qHD screen would be icing on the cake.

Agree. I don't get why people seem like they're taking it PERSONALLY that there's a newer, better, thinner, faster, cheaper (maybe) phone coming to market. That is just gonna keep on happening, folks. Month after month after month, Year after year after year. You're never gonna have *THE BEST IN THE UNIVERSE* phone, because something better's always going to come along.

This isn't something Verizon and Moto did to "get you." They're in business. It's all about sales volume and profit margin. It's not personal. They're not sitting around the office, reading Android Forums and saying, "Hey, you know what? That Sean dude? He JUST bought a Bionic! Wouldn't it be hilarious if we dropped a newer model that was better... just to see the look on his face?!? Yeah, ok, so let's introduce the RAZR, and make sure it's thinner, has a better screen and costs less than the phone he just shelled out for. That'll show him! Muuuuhuhuhuhahahaha!"

Seriously. I understand being miffed, but it's hardly the end of the world. I bought my Bionic after months of research. I initially wanted the Samsung Galaxy SGII, but once word got out that it WASN'T coming to VZW, I refocused my lust on the Bionic. When I got it (on launch day), it WAS the best phone available on VZW's network. Pretty soon, once the RZR and the Nexus come out, it won't be the best anymore. Maybe I'll switch to the Nexus, if I see there's something so incredibly compelling about it that I'm willing to give up my nicely configured, outfitted and accessorized Bionic for it. I doubt it. The only temptation is Ice Cream Sandwich, but really, I'm not a rooter/modder/developer (not by a mile! LOL!), so I'm pretty darn happy with the speed, power and capabilities my Bionic offers. It's sure as hell a huge leap forward from the craptastic Blackberry I had for the past almost-three years. I have no real interest in the RAZR, primarily because of the sealed battery. And I gotta say the lack of SD Card slot makes Nexus seem less than ideal to me... <shrug>

Anyhoo... different strokes for different folks, but I see no reason to be so mad about advancing technology. It's just gonna keep happening. I consider us pretty lucky to have access to the kinds of things we can get now... smartphones, tablets, the interwebz, streaming video, skype, applications, widgets, etc.... it's all pretty fantastic. I still giggle when I think of the ginormous brick phone we had 20 years ago. All we could do on that was make and receive REALLY expensive phone calls! LMAO!!

Ok, I'm never one to dig on this, and make noise about phone releases being so close, and always being behind the curve when it comes to keeping up with Technology!

However, as Android fans, and Bionic owners we just got slapped by Moto and Vzw...

Why even release the Bionic, and then a month...A MONTH LATER, release a phone from the same phone manufacturer that beats out the previous one so bad when we talk about screens, and what not?

Yes the Razr comes with a Super Amoled qHD screen...seriously now? And the usual Dual core stuff, with probably a better camera that doesn't take a year to Auto Focus.

Yea I'm a little pissed! It is what it is! And I wouldn't even post if it was a new phone from HTC, Samsung (Prime) or LG! But coming from Moto, come on! Not cool moto, not cool VZW!

No way to spin it. I agree. Seems Moto had to honor supply and production commitmemts, so that is where the DX2 and Bionic came from. Bionic is still good though.

I for one am 100% happy with my Bionic, granted I did have to swap it out at Costco, but beyond that I love my beast!

I very much love the screen and the fact that 3 hours of screen use is very little difference from 2, I have plenty of screen time without battery issues.

Extended battery is awesome, yes there is a very slight creek on the right side, but if I am not paying attention (like I normally am not) I never notice it.

The screen is a tiny bit bigger than I would like it and originally I noticed the pixels, but now I never notice them.

Also, I get compliments from those retina iPhone peeps as to how clear my screen is, so it makes me wonder how much of it is hype and people just tricking themselves into thinking it is worse than it is.

You can have your no-battery replacement phone with a very slight increase in CPU speed.

Both have locked bootloaders and I am fine with my phone the way it is.

I will never complain about a screen I can see perfectly in bright sunlight, a phone that holds a charge for almost 2 days or normal use on my part, crystal clear phone reception, and 4G capabilities. Not to mention liquid smooth scrolling and multi-tasking.

Ok just to clarify, I don't hate the Bionic! I actually like the Bionic...

However..Yes the camera is a BIG deal to me, the issue with the Bionic camera and the auto focus is a big deal to me. I use the camera on my phone daily. The size and weight are fine with me, and the screen I have never had a huge problem with. Yes some colors are pixelated, and yes its not perfect, but like others have said, its very Bright indoors and out, and i've pretty much grown to like it.

Battery life stinks on this phone, yes I know how to tweak things and what not. So those who are not in a 4G area saying they're getting a zillion hours..save it...lol!

All in all, I'm a pretty cool down to earth guy ..I love the Technology game, and I'm always up to speed on what's new and exciting, and what will be coming soon,,Etc, Etc...

But seriously, VZW and Moto did the wrong thing here...You don't release a Flagship phone and tout it has the best that Moto has baked up, and after a 9 month wait give us a phone that still comes with question marks, namely the forever to focus camera, with no update in site or even a peep about it!

To then release a phone ONE MONTH later from the same Manufacturer, that IMO has better specs and a better form factor... Sorry, that's not cool! If this phone came from HTC, or Samsung...Well then that's life, another company is aways brewing up the next Jesus phone. But the same company?

IMO, they should have skipped the Bionic if that was the case...IMO just bad business!

I've used the camera and he video camera very satisfactorily - I open the camera app, let it focus on its own (takes about 1-2 seconds) and when the box turns green, I hit the button and get a pic snapped in less than half a second.

Sometimes thats I the case...but more often then not, it'll take about 7-10 sec... lol, that's crazy for a phone in 2011!

I'm not the only one, people I know personally that own this phone have the same gripe ...I'm sure an update may help, but Moto has been busy lately...hehehe!

If they would have skipped the Bionic, we would still be saying it's bad business. :p

They should have also lowered the price to like $250 on the Bionic if they knew they were going to release the Razr. We should twitter bomb them and ask for a rebate. jk
