Long-time lurker, biding my time until I get my hands on an i9250. I found these stats reassuring in light of those who were unimpressed with the hardware choices. Obviously web browsing =/= 3D gaming, but at least we know the phone is no slouch:

Thanks so much for the link...web browsing capability is much more important to me than gameplay. This puts my mind at ease about getting this phone, especially since I was starting to doubt the GN amid all the negativity about the relatively slow/old GPU.

Nexus all the way baby!

Welcome as well, and thanks for the link! While Apple has such high brand recognition that I don't see them going away anytime soon, It is not good for them that within a month of their phone releasing, there will already be 3 or 4 android phones that beat it performance wise. And with ICS, Android just got a whole lot more appealing IMO. I wonder if this year we will actually see Android eat into Apple's market share, as opposed to both rising as a percentage at the cost of symbian, blackberry, and windows.

Just wondering if any of the mods know whether or not Rob was able to get answers for any/all of those questions that were raised before the HK event?

For example, in ICS, when a video or game is played, do they take up the whole 4.65", or do the software buttons simply disappear without their previously-occupied area being utilized by said applications?

During the HK demo they showed a game of Minecraft being played, and, to my eyes, the game did not fill up the whole 4.65". If this is the case, then why even have soft buttons in the first place? Why not just make 3 equivalent hardware buttons, especially since there seems to be quite a gap between the software buttons and the base of the device?

I know Matias said that videos would take up the full space but I am yet to see an example of this.

Any help light-shedding would be much appreciated because I am a little confused TBH. Thanks guys and girls. :)

Setting a date for phone release isn't really advertising in my eyes though. Somebody, somewhere at Samsung, Google, and Verizon has to know something. We got 3 different multi-national companies with a combined workforce of over 335,000 employees and nobody is talking or slipped?

Well the 11/3 date has come from the inside. And the 11/10 was the MAP date that leaked. But Steven's source said they are on serious lockdown mode at Verizon right now, so I am afraid any more updates on date slips etc. will be hard to come by. Right now its still 1st or 2nd thursday in Nov.

Wonder what is going on? The son of the Samsung COO just had a meeting with Tim Cook and other Apple execs, right after the tribute to Steve Jobs. He was there to discuss the arrangement that Samsung has with Apple to supply the A6 quad core chips for the Ipad 3 and the next Apple smartphone. Now this is kind of interesting. Samsung is fabricating the chips in Texas and producing them. TSMC in Taiwan is also trying to produce them but will not be able to ramp up production for the kind of quantities that Apple needs. Okay, so what does that have to do with the Nexus? This is crazy, but I wonder if Apple has an agreement with Samsung not to use this chip in the next generation of Nexus. So that would mean Samsung would have to use TI's 28nm chip. Business is weird.

I don't know if Sammy ever acknowledged it, but TI came right out and said it is the 4460.

Interesting. Why would Samsung not bring that up in the presentation though? Not saying I think they will throw something else in there. I just feel like something like that missing would have a very specific reason to be missing.

Keep in mind that Minecraft probably wasn't developed using the updated SDK for ICS. It wouldn't have the ability to dismiss/ hide the buttons (assuming that the new SDK grants developers that power).
