Remember if you use this file all data is wiped on the phone if you wait for the OTA (over the air) then no data is lost....

Installing this build will wipe data in the phone, OK. But if you load this, do you have to do any kind of setup for Verizon to see your phone and number? Or is that all sim card.

It should be pulled from the SIM card since you can throw the SIM card on another phone and it'll automatically communicate with Verizon's network.

Around 4 weeks is typical, unless there's another build leaked during that time. Then, who knows?

I say we get it next week. There were whispers of this build right before the ".3" OTA was released... but then the whispers stopped. So it seems like they've been working on ".5" since before .3 was OTA'd... and now they've probably just added the fix for the HTC logger.

Hey all!
This site has been amazing for me since I picked up this phone in may. Here is my question :

I'm currently in Europe and have suspended my Verizon accounts, but continue to use the phone for wifi. I suspect I will not receive the update until I return stateside, and rejoin the network.
I'm unrooted, and am one of the lucky few to have relatively few issues with my first and only tbolt. <knock knock>.
If prefer to remain unrooted, but would love to use 2.3 for skype(with the front camera). I imagine the only way for that to happen would be for me to download <this> update. Thanks for all the time research!

here in the states,i have had inactive phones update over wifi. i dont know if being in europe,or having your us accounts suspended will affect anything,however.

id wate a week or 2 after hearing we are recieving the OTA here before running this leaked RUU and wiping your data.

another thing to consider:
if you install this,and it turns out NOT to be the ota,then being on a non-released build may never allow an actual OTA. you may have to install the real OTA manually as you did this one,thus wiping the data again.

i do agree- they prolly were working on this fix when .3 was pushed. they just didnt expect such outrage over the VM notification bug,and they certainly werent expecting "the htc loggers incident"
