Are you on the stock rom?
all the shabbymods are deodexed, thus only the .apk is needed. I have that, but I dont have the stock mms.odex

I deleted the original calendar and now I can't download my google calendar to Jorte and can't use simple calendar either. I rooted my phone on version 7, if this helps.
If you still have your download of shabby mod just open it and pull the calender out and push it like the previous poster did.
If you dont know how You can just put it on your sd card, by connecting to usb and then using a file manager that has root ability, I use root explorer. put it back in /system/app and reboot phone.

If you dont have the shabby mod anymore just download it again.

Hi,

im on a prevail that i just rooted last night. I guess i accidentally erased the mms.apk (not sure how tho). I'm not able to send pictures via the stock
message app or handcent. Whatsapp works tho, i can send thru that but
i want to be able to send thru reg message app.

Is there a way to restore? Do i need to do the ShabbyMod?

thanks and i have done some reading. In fact, the more i read the less it makes sense.
I'm completely new to this so take it easy son. Don't assume i haven't read. My bad on wording my question wrong.

Let me rephrase:

From reading the forums (not just this one but others as well), it sounds like my problem comes from me not having the mms.apk file to send pic/video messages thru the message app. To restore it, i've seen these options:

1. Odin - from what i understand this will revert back to stock. I'm trying to find another way so that i dont have to do this but if it works then fugg it. I'm assuming when i do this i'll have to root again yes?

2. Shabbymod - I keep reading of people pulling mms.apk from shabbymod zip(?) but i'm not sure how. and also "pushing" this to the phone? Can someone explain how this is done? is it like opening a batch file and follow the prompts? or is it like dragging and dropping?

3. mms.apk zip - i have found forums where people have posted the mms.apk file for download but they were not in prevail forums. does this mean that they wont work? since Android is an OS, is it universal for all android products or no, assuming its froyo? I'm sure its not drag and drop because that would be way too easy.

I hope this post helps anyone out in the future with the same problem. Once i figure out what i'm gonna do and when i do it i'll post the results back on here. I know i got a lot of help from other posts when it came to rooting the phone so i want to pay it back to the forums.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think I can help ya out a little .
Yes odin will fix your problem, but yes will return you to stock setup , I say that is a last resort to fixing a problem when all else has failed .

As for items 2-3 pulling the mms.apk is the easiest way from your shabby folder it is in the rom/app folder. I am not all that sure about the push but what you can do is copy it onto your sd than use a file manager like root explorer or es file manager to copy it to your system/app folder and reboot ( you will need to make sure that folder has read write permissions i beleive)

to help out i have attached the mms pak from shaabys mod here

update on my dilemma...

i plugged my prevail into my mac and onto my Win7 laptop and i hear it connecting but it doesn't show up as a drive that i can drag and drop to.
so i sent the file to my phone via bluetooth and i got the file on my SD.

from there i am stuck. I downloaded ES file manager and i am not sure how to get the file from the SD to the phone itself.

I think i may just return the phone back to stock and reinstall the apps again. its a prevail so its not like i have mad apps that will take days to reload.

Thanks all for your help. i'm sure i'll run into something i can't figure out so i'll be back to post what happened.

easiest way i have found is with adb. put the phone in debugging mode hook it to your windows laptop and open a command prompt.. for this example i will put adb in c:\root on my hd

C:\Users Blah Blah Blah\ cd /root
C:\root\ adb shell
you will get either a # or $

$su
#mount -o remount,rw /dev/mtdblock4 /system
mount -o remount,rw /dev/mtdblock4 /system <-- system repeats command no worries here
#cd sdcard
#
#cp Mms.apk /system/app
#
#cd ..
#cd ..
#cd system
#cd app
#chmod Mms.apk 644
(if not that way put it chmod 664 Mms.apk)
#reboot

This should help you fix your problem if you need adb it is available in the One Click Root software.... If i have helped please hit the Thanks Button..

I've tried reinstalling the messaging app, both through TB where I deleted it (TB hangs here and does not install it), and saving mms.apk onto my sd then installing it using Easy Installer (but it can't intall the apk.) Do I need the mms.odex to get it to install, and where do I get it?

Am I missing something obvious? I'm not at all familiar with command prompts, so the last advice is a it beyond me.

system apps can't be installed normally

put the apk on your sdcard and use root explorer or something like it to copy it to /system/app/
