What kind of battery pack do you need for THAT to offset what the op states? Seems the point is the combo of data caps, data coverage and cloud storage dependency are not a very good recipe for a lot of consumers at this point in time, unless hanging at the house when using it. In which case, buying a Flyer for $300 or a similar device is more practical and better than a phone. Even better display and lower cost.

Well, there are hotspots out there. I guess my point is that you can come up with a strategy where you can offload certain things at home, or from select locations. I think cloud music is fine over 3G. Pulling down movies, not so much, without 4G or wi-fi. Don't get me wrong. I WANT the 32gb version and will be a bit disappointed in 16gb considering there's no removable storage. But to be honest, I only have 16gb microSD (2 of them) but have never had to swap them out for any reason. I still want 32gb, especially now that I would consider upgrading my .mp4 rips from 480p to 720p. Would have been ecstatic with 32gb built-in AND removable storage. Oh well.

Interesting, since only about 14.7gb is free to begin with, so only 1.7gb taken for ICS allocation, firmware and stock apps? Seems low, but good none the less.

Firmware and stock apps don't take up anywhere near that kind of space. You'll see the exact amount when source and some dumps come out, but for comparison, GB plus stock apps is around 140-150MB. Since Google has gone on record stating that ICS should run on any phone capable of running GB, 1.7GB isn't happening. Most phones running GB today have a cap of 256MB or lower for firmware (which includes the stock apps).

14.896GB is the actual "available" storage in a 16GB drive. Remember, there are two user available partitions on the device, the "internal" and the "mountable" storage. If you're saying that there is roughly 14.7GB available to the user, then that means about 200MB formatted for firmware and included apps, which makes sense. It would also mean nearly 1.5GB of "internal" storage" to go with that 13+GB of user available storage in the mountable partition. I'll know for sure when I get my hands on one, but one thing I'm certain of, whomever fed you that 10GB line (and 24GB for the 32GB version) is spreading FUD and therefore doing more harm than good.

The 10gb statement also accounts for the operational floor of HC and ICS. If anyone has noticed, you can not install or update most apps if less than about 1gb remaining. Low storage error pops up, since shared space.

In what device? Low storage error is usually tied to the /data/data limit, of which most phones have sizable amounts. The Incredible is famous for it's low amount. We start off with 748MB of user available storage (by your logic, we can't install ANY apps). Due to the /data/data limit, we can get to about 500MB of internal storage and hit the "limit." That's because we've actually filled or nearly filled /data/data, and any other available storage is not available for THAT purpose.

So, what device out there tells you that once you hit 1GB of storage, you cannot install or update apps? None that I know of, and I've got a ton of experience with Android devices, as well as some limited development experience on several.

I'm not sure if you're implying that we won't see the SGN in November. . .but I think that most large corporations (and law firms) are run by aholes anyway. They almost have to be, if they're going to make any large amount of money.

But I think the ambiguous "later this year" has more to do with not wanting to take any thunder away from the RAZR than anything else. Like I said previously, they're not going to give preferential treatment to the SGN over their own branded Droid. Giving any sort of a release date for the SGN before they do with the RAZR would be tantamount to preferential treatment.

I'm still going to stick with what was said at the Nexus unveiling in HK. Shipping to the U.S. in November.

I took it more to be that they still have some issues outstanding that need to be ironed out before release and they can't be sure how long that will take. Maybe a day, maybe a month but no more than 2 so you get "later this year". I also do believe that announcement was put out earlier than planned because of the groundswell showing support for this phone. I don't think they were quite ready to put that press release out. Who knows, maybe if we would have waited until Tuesday it might have had 'coming in Novemeber' and maybe even a price in it.

Agreed. I like the .mkv container myself, and those are huge. I'm really hoping for 32 Gigs.

Does anyone know whether the 1080p on the video recording is the only setting, or can you downgrade it to 720p?

I'm not sure why they decided to go for the max resolution, since I believe most TV owners have 720p instead of the higher res, although I could be wrong (I'm basing my assumption on the fact that tv shows in HD are at 720p, and that played a huge role in my decision to go with that resolution).

13.33GB available, not 10. So far, I've seen a lot of people reference this "10GB pic" but no one has been able to find or post it. What I've just posted is the actual pic that people are referencing, but it's not 10GB. Let me know if you think I'm wrong, but if you do, please post whatever you're referencing so that I can see it for myself.

The more videos I watch of the Razr in action, the more I'm considering it. NFC has a lot of potential with the wife and I though. It might just come to battery life. I'll have to wait for reviews of both. All of my music is almost done uploading to the Google cloud (12,781 down, 6,233 to go), so storage space isn't an issue. 4G is great in Atlanta, so either phone will be a snappy, awesome experience coming from an OG Droid. We'll probably wait until all 3 phones are out to try them all. It may even be that we opt for the Rezound with the extended battery. Definitely preliminarily leaning towards Galnex.

Agree until someone who can actually talk about the device reveals how much internal space the device will have and what the OS uses nobody knows for sure.

I guess I should have specified that I was basing my expectations on that rumor of next tuesday being true. I personally believe they were going to wait until after the pre-order date for the RAZR. so a WEEK from Tuesday could be believable. But lately Verizon has taken to putting out the announcement only a day or two before release, and letting the rumor and leak mill run wild before that. Announcement on 11/1, Pre-order date 11/3, release 11/10. That is my opinion of their original plan.

I agree with this. They want to let RAZR have the limelight for now...and that is fine. I do think they wanted to put off any announcement until later to give the RAZR more time on the stage alone, and that the only reason the press release came out was because of the Twitter/Email stuff. If it had been planned on their part they would have added a release date. IMO.

havent see anything else like this posted.... this guy put up a short hands on review of the nexus, but hes russian so i cant understand anything hes saying but it does show off some terrific viewing angles. shortly after he put up that hands on, he uploaded this video simply titled video01 that i believe was taken with the nexus as an example. looks good imo

Has anybody else been seeing the Galaxy Nexus ads that are popping up all over the interwebs? Brings a smile to my face everytime It's coming gents and ladies...

PS: Man "Galaxy Nexus" does not roll off the tongue at all...frankly it is an abuse of the English language to pair these two words together. I guess it will help it sell to the simpletons, who know the Galaxy brand well, and the techies, who love the Nexus and what it stands for.

I agree. Although, for what it's worth, I'm glad we got something out of them. I can't imagine going through 5 more days of rampant negativity.

I agree that the RAZR build quality (metal, Gorilla Glass) is probably higher, but for me, software trumps all. My OG Droid has superb build quality; the glass (naked) is flawless and the phone is still as solid as the day I got it. But the thing keeps lagging, freezing, rebooting, etc. all the time.

RAZR will get ICS probably next February, which isn't too far off, but it won't be pure ICS. It'll be Blurred up the wazoo, and with a locked bootloader, you'll never be able to have pure ICS on it. That, to me, is the clincher right there.

CBS, NBC, CW tend to broadcast in 1080i (not always), Fox and ABC are in 720p, and Blu-ray is 1080p at 24 fps, and cable/sat channels can do all three as well (and also 480i).

As implementations of the ATSC standard varies, I would expect that the Gnex will record in 480p as well as in 720p or 1080p in order to match up with the wide variety of sets out there and owner recording preferences.
