Anyone sick of these BIG phones? I am!

I've had my Droid X since July 2010 and the phone has been great but it's really BIG and these phones just seem to be getting bigger. I'm itching to get a new phone and I really want something smaller. But the iphone 4 S seems to be the only "new" phone that isn't HUGE. I've dropped my X a few times so I like to keep a case on it which makes it even bigger. My wife has an original DINC and I find myself wishing I had a phone that size. I don't really care so much about features or the latest greatest version of whatever. At 16 months old, my DX is a fossil but it does everything I want. I just want it to be smaller. Am I headed towards an iphone? I have nothing against apple but I've never been an "apple" person. I have an Ipod but that's it. But when i ask myself what I want from my next phone, the only "must have" for me is that it must be smaller. Maybe I just need to be patient, so many people are buying ipads and android tablets, and at the same time phones are approaching small tablet size, maybe in a year or so the phone makers will realize that there is still a market for smaller phones. Or maybe that's just wishful thinking?

I hear you and I'm sure there would be times when I would miss the big screen. But I'm not a heavy user. I sit in front of a computer all day long and I have a laptop that's always on at home. My eyesight is still pretty good so I think I could deal with the smaller screen for the amount of time I use the phone. I should probably post in another forum to find someone who had a big phone and switched to a small one. Or maybe take my wife's DINC for a few days and see if I can live with it. Thanks for your responses.

OP, I'd wager you can find phones with ~4" if you want, and if you don't want the latest you're search should be ready. Look at the DInc 2. It's got a screen larger than the original, yet much smaller than the phones that make today's ad campaigns; add in the fact that it came out this summer, you can probably renew your contact while snagging it cheaply. If iOS is what you want, get it. Just know that there are options with android that you won't find with Apple.

My first smartphone was a Treo 700P, then the Omnia, the the Droid 2. I kept wondering if I was missing anything by not having the larger screen of the DX so I bought one. I will never go back to a screen smaller than this.
Browsing the web is so much better, as is watching movies, using the command line, etc.

How large is the screen on your phone now.
I had a 4 inch screen. Thought I would love it but it was to large and the phone didn't work properly. Maybe if the phone actually worked I might have liked the phone better, but I figured that a 3.7 would work best for me. Most of my phones are 3.2 but I just got the new Cricket ZTE Score with a 3.5 screen and it is better, so I think a 3.7 is my sweet spot. 4 inch screen is just a bit much.
What service provider do you use now, and are you currently using Android or a Black Berry or something else?

Well. I picked up the Samsung Exhibit 2 4g over the weekend and I think my phone shopping days are over. The screen size is perfect. And everything works like it is supposed to.
Very nice phone, and it has a front facing camera that I didn't know about. Video calls may be a coming.
Highly recommend this phone. T Mobile hit one out of the park with it. GV and all apps I use work perfectly on it.

I'm torn, I love the screen for netflix but everything else I view on it can be zoomed. It's a bit of a hassle because with a big phone any added bulk of a case becomes a real negative. I'm enjoying my new phones beautiful screen but I think I could live with a 3 1/2-4" screen if the device was speced comprable to flagship high end phones but sadly once you drop screen size you run into entry level mediocre Android phones.

I own an iPod touch which I like A Lot! I hate iTunes though. For me its the most cumbersome way to add music to a device ever. I could never downgrade to an iphone, itunes being the biggest reason.
