Actually, I called Samsung to ask whether or not the NFC and FM Radio worked in the S2 yet. The woman at Samsung said that AT&T's version of the S2 did not physically contain the FM Radio or the NFC chip. Software for the radio and near field communications were in fact left in the programming, but I was told that when AT&T decides to support these two functions that I will need to purchase a new device that contains the actual hardware.

This makes no sense about the NFC. Why would they spend the money on having the NFC battery part of this phone. I would not think that they would have the NFC compliant battery if the chip was not there.

I believe the person whom you spoke to @ Samsung is quite frankly *WRONG* about NFC, she's right about the FM radio though (unfortunately). Official specifications sheet from both Samsung and other online sources state NFC is in hardware and indeed, if you go to running services, it's up and running...
