Hi, I have a Motorola DEFY with Android 2.2.1 My call log tells me I made a call "3 hours ago" or "yesterday" or received call from Stan "3 days ago." WTF!! I want to know the damn time and date the call was made or received! I've searched the net and the market and see no easy solution. I don't need some huge dialer app making my phone crash(it crashes enough thanks), I just need some very basic info about calls that has been standard on my non "smart" phones for many years. Have I missed something? Is there a simple app that will solve this?

Thanks,
Andy

Umm, it tells you the date and time, and even the duration.

Have you tried clicking on the entry you want more info about?

I dont have a defy, but on all my other android phones the call log list only gives vague information like '2 days ago', but if you click on the entry in the call log it brings up a page with more detailed information on it, including exact time, date and duration.

Give this app a try, its free:

CALL HISTORY

Displays your call log in a 4-Tab View

  • Incoming
  • Outgoing
  • Missed
  • Custom tab(you can set up)
callhistory2.JPG

Displays the date , time and minute duration for each call. YOu can also click the entry and call the number back.

So the call log doesn;t suck it just has too much information? Is that right?

The call log is there so if you need to you can check it with your bill/account.

What sort of basic info do you really need?
Clearly you don't understand. "3 days ago" is not too much info. I want the time and date of the call.

When you click on the entry, for calls made the same day it tells you the time of the call. For a call made the day before, it says, "Yesterday."

If your phone uses the stock android dialer (sounds like) you just need to open the dialer, push menu then prefs, then check the box that says "exact times".

When I click menu, the only options are "clear list" and "Speed dial setup" Is there some other way to see more preferences?

Thanks for the replies. I don't claim to be an expert on this phone. It's my first smart phone. Like I asked in my original post, have I missed something? If the info I want is not available with the stock dialer, I'll download the one suggested above.

When I click on an entry, it shows up as this. There's a very small time of call under the phone icon.

Nice but when I click on the entry, for calls made the same day it tells me the time of the call which is nice. For calls made prior to the current day it shows the date but no times. This is only for entries that are contacts. If the call came from a non-contact and I click on the entry, the only options are add to contacts, call, edit before call, send text message, add to speed dial, remove from list.

Click on the call from "Stan", and make sure you are on the "Contacts: History" page, as opposed to the "Contacts: Info", or "Contacts: Social Networking" page. Just slide the screen from Left to Right, until you see "Contacts: History" on the top of the screen (left most of the 3 white dots on top right of screen will be "red").

Now if the number is not saved as a "contact", that's another issue.

I have a milestone Plus with the same problem; time and date are ok today but the time says call made 22 minutes ago but when it gets to two days from now it tells you only the date - no time. How lame! (and yes, i know about tapping the call for more information and scrolling to the left for call date and time but there is no time posted there, only the date. Does anyone know of an app that logs these call properly? Wait - reprhase --- does anyone know of a SAFE app that is not going to execute malicious code or let malicious apps take over and call and email everyone of my 400+ contact on my phone?

I'm sold on CallHistory, it provide ALL details and doesn't lose data! PLUS I love the custom tab display
