As sexy as the Nexus is, I'm thinking ill probably wait until the second wave of ICS phones hit. Fingers crossed we'll see these at CES for a first quarter 2012 release.

The three things I want in my next phone are: ICS out of the box, un-encrypted bootloader, and a next gen processor. Whether that's the Qualcomm S4, OMAP 4470, Exynos 4212, or Nvidia Kal-el doesn't matter to me. Most likely will be the 4470 since Google seems to be in bed with TI for ICS phones.

The speed and battery consumption is a huge step forward from what we have now, and with ICS we finally have the software to utilize the multiple cores.

Some of the stuff these companies are developing is pretty impressive with asynchronous cores, or smaller extremely power optimized cores in conjunction with the big boys for mundane commands should be pretty sweet.

They'll drop ICS source, just like they have for every other OS. The reason they didn't drop HC source was it was strictly a tablet OS, and one that everyone else would have kanged to make their "own" tablets. Not to mention the fact that it's still not fully complete and still has some bugs.

If Google decides not to drop ICS then it goes against their whole "open source" philosophy and I don't see that happening

I sure hope you're right. It does make sense. Just got a bit spooked by a member of the team saying he would not comment on the source being released.

It isn't his place to have a comment on it. It will be released Google isn't about to piss off their biggest community of android supporters, the dev community

Hey guys, been a while...busy.

I won't be jumping ship any time soon...as I have said before, these new phones are nice, but until they can actually do interesting things that the TB cannot do, they are not worth the $$$ off contract to me. I think I would have buyers remorse when I realized that the experience is essentially the same.

I would never leave Verizon over a phone...the network is always more important than the device connected to it. I just don't see anyone catching up with Verizon for at least a few more years...maybe five? You never know, but there is no evidence of it happening now.

I honestly never had fears for not havin a sdcard. It's a seperate internal memory. Not too hard to understand.

Yea but that does not change the fact that its not removable. I like to be able to pop an SD card from one device to next and have everything there. Also, don't want to have to worry about losing everything if the phone gets f'd.

I used my upgrade on the TB, too. I still have one more available upgrade on my family share, though. May just buy off contract, unless these fear mongering $800 price tag rumors are truthful. If I do use the upgrade I have another one available starting in June and then mine in November so I'll be all set for phones this year

After months of trepidation, putting my parents on my plan a couple years ago was the best thing I could have ever done. They still use old LG flip phones so I get 2 extra upgrades to play with. I even spaced it out correctly so I get a new upgrade every 6 or 7 months

lol thats almost the exact same situation im in. my dad uses an env touch and my mom an old env 1. funny i remember how sweet the env phones were when they first came out

I am on my parents family plan, but I messed up and let my mom use my upgrade to buy a feature phone. I should have paid full price for that 150 dollar phone. Then get my Galaxy Nexus for cheap. Retail price here I come. (PLEASE BE UNDER 650)

I might have you all beat. I still have a NE2 upgrade that expires in January. That will give me $100 off the 2 year price. Been burning a hole in my pocket since July. I'll hand me down my TB to my daughter, and perhaps hand me up her DI to my LG Flip phone wife. I think I'm done with upgrades after that until mid 2012.

I held onto my NE2 for a long time. Burned it on my TB in March :shrugs: I'll probably use the upgrade on the GN. I have a feeling I'll be holding on the GN for a while and if something better is announced at CES (doubt it) I have another upgrade to use 6/22

Best I can do is my 1yr contract on the Bolt allows me eligible mid Jan

After that its 2yrs.. which is why I'm still not 100% on the GNex. I really want those next gen processors if I'm gonna have my next phone for 20 months.
