Hello again, I have a question about android phones in general:

-how long is the projected lifespan of android phones? how long before it breaks,have hardware problems? 2 years? more or less?

-what specs/hardware would we see in the highest-end/most powerful android phone?
like, years from now, in the future, is it possible for quad core processors, battery-less/solar powered, hardware that could rival psp vita etc.

Given that in the UK a lot of contracts are now 18-24 months, I'd anticipate the average lifespan is 2 years. My handset (Desire HD) has a 2 year warranty, but my contract is 18 months. Depends on usage though.

Nvidia are actually developing a 5 core processor called Kal-El so at the moment, the sky is really the limit (sorry if that sounded corny). Mobile technology is moving so fast, who's to say what's around the corner. A year ago, my DHD was top of the range but compare it with a beast like the Galaxy S2 and it's nothing

Not sure about solar powered phones etc, that could be a long way off. The power used by phones far outweighs that which they can get via appropriately sized solar panels. You could technically do it, but the solar panels would be massive and expensive so it wouldn't really be worth it.

Average lifespan in terms of useability, well an extreme high end now, the flagships of the manufacturers of this very moment would be future proof for at least 18months. By that time, the specs they have would probably qualify for mid-range devices.

I did a little searching, but I cannot find any mean time between failure stats for Android phones. There are such a huge variety of Android phones by many manufacturers that a general MTBF stat for Android phones would be a meaningless stat. For instance, I have a keyboard slider. Since it has more mechanical moving parts than most other phones, its MTBF rating would be different than one that is touch screen only.
