Memory for apps

I have a desire and we all know that its got a small amount of phone memory for apps without rooting.

So my question is how much memory for apps will the galaxy nexus have? I have googled it but without a definitive answer.

Will it be like honeycomb allowing 16 / 32gb of space for apps? Or will it be partitioned like phones running lower versions of android.

Would really appreciate an answer on this.

One more question if anyone knows, does the galaxy nexus have text reflow?

Guess the lack of responses means people visiting this forum have not got the answers. I was hoping someone here had had some hands on time with the device.

The Galaxy Nexus isn't out yet so just about everything is speculation at this point. The memory is supposed to be 32 GB with no micro SD card slot. I would assume that the GN will be similar to the Nexus S in that a certain portion (probably around 2 GB) of that 32 GB will be partitioned for apps, but that won't really mean much since the other 30 GB should still be available to move apps over anyway.

As far as text reflow, I'll assume that you are referring to the browser. Since every other version of the browser has it, there is no reason to believe that this one will not.

No its not, Google is an internet business. They won't ever make money from you listening to music from your SD card. They will make money (somehow) from you streaming music to your phone. This is applicable for all media. This is also going to be a 4g phone and its awesome that they are basically, pushing the boundaries for 4g. What is the point of all that speed if you never use it? Web pages will only load so fast.

I agree, but...

Except those who were "upgraded" to data-capped tiered plans (AT&T, Verizon, and eventually Sprint will too) or who will be with the purchase of this phone

This push is about 2 years too late, as it is heavily dependent upon unlimited plans IMO.

Exactly. Google, is not in the business of trying to help the little guy pay for his 4G bill though. Neither are the Cell companies. I said it was a great business move, not a great move for the consumer. It definitely sucks for us, well not me I have unlimited 4G, and is a damn shame; a great business move and no failure on any of the corporation's part.

How exactly is it a fail? If you don't like, don't buy the phone.

Do you really listen to 30+ gigs of music a day? Do you watch 30gigs of media a day?

What's so hard about connecting your phone to your computer or wireless to add and remove files that you will need for the next day or week or month? Is it that much of a chore to use technology(which apparently everyone loves) to move files around from the computer? or is the computer archaic as a storage device?

It's a phone. Not a 2tb hard drive.

I dont know guys. I understand you feel limited, but you all make no sd cards out to be like 2012.

To answer your question:

Yes, it is too much hassle for me to be continuously connecting my phone to the computer to choose which albums I want to listen to. I want my whole ~26GB collection on the phone at all times, because I want to be able to listen to whatever I'm in the mood for at the time. The cloud is not a solution for me.

Your needs are obviously different and that's fine.

Google has some people there that clearly don't understand what users want. They failed to SELL the first Nexus in large numbers because it was not innovative enough and now they are doing the same thing by killing the Nexus with NO sdcard.

So, I am one of those people with Money in hand that now will wait.

I will be buying full price if needed. Also, I do not think the first Nexus was not innovative enough. They all have innovative features. The first one may or may not have met Google's expectations. It just didn't sell as much as it could have because of Google's attempt at a sales model, which in my opinion, was too innovative.

We get our hopes up for the latest and greatest, and are disappointed every time.

If we were satisfied, why would we need to buy more phones? That kills the business model.

Reading the replies, I sympathise with some peoples disappointment.

I myself like what I see in ice cream sandwich but I am considering waiting 6 months for a better hardware phone. I really wanted to love the galaxy nexus but being true to my feelings, it doesn't grab my heart.

Think I will have a play with it when its out and then decide.
