i know people that have the Cert but i was just wondering if there are any in the Android community that has this as well.


If you do have it, how hard was it. I have several IT certs (low level) and wouldn't mind having the CEH Cert just for poops and grins.

Not real sure.

I myself have CompTia Net + and Sec + ....btw Sec + was pretty overwhelming for me but i passed on the first try. My company paid for us to attend a 4 day boot camp on it. So we crammed everything in a 4 day period then took the test on the 5th day.

I won't complain about my college that much but the boot camp you attended sounds like what I'm going through. Cram in loads of info in a short amount of time. I knew this before hand as most private colleges are the same.

My plan was to challenge the real vendor exams, such as CompTIA (Net+ and Sec+) and also Cisco's CCNA after each portion was completed at school. Generally that meant 3 to 6 weeks of self-study per course, take the school's version of the exam and then if you are ready, take the vendor exam. Well, things changed as the school is doing a really bad job of outlining what the student needs to know. They concentrate on preping you for their exam.

I'm into my last 2 months and have just started Win2008 Server. At the end I'll have to refresh a little and take the Net+ and shortly after the Sec+. Then I'll take a 'break' for a bit and then possibly go for the BackTrack cert. BackTrack Linux - Penetration Testing Distribution

yeah the Boot camp pretty much just makes you go over what you need to know to pass the CompTia test. It isn't meant to actually teach you the field.

I did the boot camp for Net+ Sec+ and Win7 cert.

Having Net+ before you take Sec+ will definitely help out.

I'm in the network security major at my school and I am in the class that is for the CEH. It has 22 domains or something like that, very well rounded. The Cert is put out by EC-Council. I am quite certain that it is accepted as a cert.

That's actually what CEH stands for...

Also, there are several 'security' certs you can get... OPST, CEH, CISSP are three off the top of my head. And security+, but that's been mentioned...

CEH is indeed a REAL certification, I know someone that has it. As for what it entails, I have NO idea as that is outside the realm of what I do. I imagine CCNA, CCSP would be good places to start before getting into CEH.

CCNA and CCSP are not vendor neutral certs, they concentrate on how to operate, maintain and secure Cisco appliances only. I'd go with CompTIA Net+ and Sec+ then call it a day and learn everything else on my own. Having too many certs makes one look like a paper tiger; all certs, no experience.

Yes, a lot of certs can look bad. The beauty of it, is that you don't have to list your whole life! Get what you want, learn what you want, and list what you need to list for the job or contract in question.

I'd start with A+N+, then CCNA and then CCNP. I'd give a pause after CCNA, get sm experience and then do CCNP.

Do you want to be an engineer or in management? If you want engineer, start with the cisco certs. Although they are cisco based, they are used as the standard. If you want to head into the intel community or management get a cissp. It's a mile wide and an inch deep, but if you have a ccnp with a cissp you can make a killing.
