Got my phone on thursday charged it for a bit before use. Naturally I installed tons of apps, played tons of game as it is my first smartphone. I've noticed the battery runs out quite quickly. I've removed a few apps now and I'm running juice defender.

Please see attached screenshots

EDIT: Made post on PC and trying to edit and attach images with phone but CHOOSE FILE wont open explorer box
EDIT 2: nvm emailed image to my pc and downloaded images to pc

Notice how the slope steepening coincides with WiFi, Awake and Screen on. IOW you were using the handset quite heavily during that period.

Battery stamina improves over time as it receives several charge/use cycles. In the meantime there are a couple of useful topics in the forum dealing with conserving the battery.

Yeah reading the threads on battery now. Will not install too many apps etc but should display take up so much battery? I have brightness on lowest, but I think browsing automatically raises brightness?

Yeah I use the wifi a lot when I'm at home but when I'm out I pretty much turn off 3g because I don't really need it.

display will be ur biggest battery drain if u use ur phone a lot i.e. if ur phone is turned on most of the time. if its idling, android OS will be ur biggest drain. so it depends on how u use ur phone.. judging by the graph, uwouldve got abotu 10 hours with that kind of usage? thats wat i wouldve got when i first got my phone :D which firmware are u running?

like myself, i think your spending way too much time playing around and looking at it. lol
its only natural and like slug said, leaving the screen on for so long will drain it.
i reckon get it set up how you like it, and try , JUST TRY to leave it alone for 1 day....i dont mean dont use it, just treat it like an older phone where you make a call every now n then....THEN see how the life is doing.

sorry to hijack this thread, but seeing that this is a battery thread, let me ask this related question :D i noticed a few times that when i reboot my phone (i think each time i use CWM manager to reboot, into recover, or just a normal reboot) my battery graph shows a vertical dip of around 5% after its back on. is this normal?

i checked it, coz my battery life is great, but i did a reboot today and noticed the battery is lower than it usually is at this time of day :D is it normal?

i didn`t noticed such big drop after rebooting. If there is any drop after reboot on my phone it usually doesn`t exceed 1% , very rarely 2%.

Back to the original topic .. I have juice defender running in agressive and I have 3g turned off when I'm at home (I use wifi when I need to ) and it has prolonged battery life by 1.67 times.

thats not too bad but imho its better to choose advanced and set all options as u like (if u have Ultimate version ofc). currently my battery prolonged life shows 2.10 and it usually doesn`t drops below 1.80

Ah that sounds wicked. What can I do because I don't want any connections on at all. If I want to check my email it is then that I want wifi/3g to turn on. The only thing I want on is calls & texts.

ATM i have 3g off by pressing power button and turning of data

Since making this topic I still haven't charged my phone. Good to see it's still going. Can someone explain the chart and colour lines on the graph and phone signal to me please

its not in market. its in your widgets :) once u have JD installed you should be able to choose from your widgets. as i mentioned above im not 100% sure if its available in free ver of JD. have a look and come back with results :)
Downloaded one called toggle data widget. seems to work fine. just switched off 3g. Just thinking, why do i need an app to do this when I could just hit the power button and turn off data?

i think it`s rather obvious what u can see there, not much to explain... ;) but let me try: color lines on graph show u at what lvl ur battery is (less battery, diffrent colour >green>yellow>red) blue lines shows when those 3 options were on (wifi, screen etc..) and about phone signal, its green when u are in full reception, yellow if in lower and red if no reception was available and finally when u charge ur phone last line will be green :)

i bought a few more wall chargers off ebay to leave around everywhere. they seem charge quicker, but the battery DRAINS quicker.
stick with the original charger and let it take its time ;)
(i still use them for "in case of" i need power somewhere so 1 sits in the car if im out and another i leave at work. wont hurt to use em, just not for a full decent charge.)

Whats the normal battery life of this phone like?

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "normal" for this phone :). I've seen people report everything from a mere 10-15 hours with normal use (ie. perhaps including a couple of hours of screen time) up to some claiming they get several days on a charge.

The first couple of months I had mine it would drain almost exactly 1% battery per hour on idle, but with normal use I still counted on a daily charge if I was actively using the phone for more than a couple of hours.

The last two weeks it's been draining around 3% per hour on idle. With around three hours of screen time the battery can stretch to perhaps 20-24 hours.

The extensive battery stats from Battery Monitor Widget Pro (which I installed a few days ago) doesn't really reveal what's causing the increased drain during inactivity. I see nothing unusual in the stats regarding awake time or any visible processes taking up unusual amounts of CPU time.

Anyway, a daily recharge is fine with me. But if battery drain should mysteriously increase further I'd obviously be somewhat less pleased.
