VZW Announced, now when?

I think they got pushed to announce that the phone was coming that is why they didnt throw out an release date with the press release

Possibly. Not sure how many P3Droid followers acted on his request. When VZW was late in announcing, P3Droid asked his followers to email/twitter VZW requesting it. The announcement came the next day (IIRC).

I heard or read somewhere that Verizon wants to sell the RAZR Droid first because they know that Galaxy Nexus is going to be very popular.

Either way, it's a win-win for Verizon. They have both so it seems like they don't mind giving one some breathing room to sell before the flagship phone sells out.

Has Verizon done this kinda thing before?

(Planning to switch from AT&T to Verizon to get Galaxy Nexus)

VZW has a problem releasing 1 good phone at all. They refused to launch the SGS2 because the Cryonic would not have sold at all. This is all new territory for VZW to have a good phone and possibly 2. I would not say they are great, but they are the best that are out there.

What about the bionic? You don't consider that a good phone?

Well, just looking at the recent stuff, it seems like Verizon and AT&T have had super long delays and fell behind in selling Samsung phones.

AT&T - they brought the Infuse late and then got the Galaxy S2 after 5 months of its original release. Those two phones would have easily competed with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. And then now, I am seeing a delay on the Galaxy Note (after hearing rumors that a AT&T version passed through the FCC). Meanwhile, iPhone 4S has come and gone all in 3 weeks in time (announcement to pre-orders to release)

Verizon - Recently went to their store, they barely had any of the good Samsung phones. No Galaxy S2 for some reason and Galaxy Nexus seems to be getting delayed. It's one week before November and we still don't have a pre-order date. Meanwhile, Motorola and Apple both had dates set after official announcements of their phones.

I see a little trend here... Samsung phones get delayed or not get carried at all.

All the while... American companies like Apple and Motorola get their phones right away and make money.

What's up with that?

FYI, Verizon doesn't have a Galaxy S2. They passed up on a version when it was released on the other carriers, supposedly to make release the Galaxy Nexus. I don't think its the phone getting delayed since it has a release date in other parts of the world.

I think this is a Verizon setback you are seeing.

the Bionic isn't a "bad" phone per'se its just that it had production issues and was launched about 3-4 months later then it really should have been. That's a LONG time in the phone industry. I personally believe that's one reason VZW was so quite with the new phones, is they were trying to salvage at least some sales for the Bionic.

I thought it was a bad phone and my expectations were loooow coming from an ancient, slow, tiny-screened, iOS-ridded 3GS! A $600 device that can't reliably hold a 3G/4G connection without manually rebooting or toggling airplane mode, and that has a constant high-pitched whine/buzz via headphones due to poor internal shielding ... that's pretty shoddy in my book.

I've never played "the phone game" of trading and upgrading: the 3GS is only my second cellphone this century and my first smartphone, so my bar was set low and the Bionic had everything on paper that *should* have impressed. And I loved Android, but the phone.... jeez!

Personally, yes it is a bad phone. The screen sucks to my eyes. I can see the pentile display. Each persons eyes are different. Everyone is dumping the phone like the plague. Amazon put in on a $0.01 sale 3 weeks after release, Radio Shack has stopped selling it, Verizon is almost giving them away.

The Bionic would have been a good phone in June and possibly July. When it released with the 4S, it was a hunk a poo.

I was at a manhattan verizon store yesterday and was told by the staff that online pre-orders for the Galaxy nexus are supposed to start sometime next week. I also read a leak a few days ago online which suggests that the release date might be the 10th.

It's looking like 2 more weeks with my dying Droid before I can switch.

I hope you happened to be talking one of the three VZW store employees who actually know what they are talking about. :D

Usually CSR reps (or in-store employees for that matter) have very little information, but I want to believe this so badly.

Is there a link to Verizon Wireless live chat? I'll ask some CSR reps to see if any have information?

Me too. This information sounds very pleasing to my eyes.

I REALLY HOPE it's Nov 3 for pre-order and Nov 10 release. How dare they release this phone in Europe before U.S. It's a GOOGLE BRAND!!!! Not just Samsung.

Like I said above... I really think they want to sell Droid Razr first and then wait it out so that they will have a hard time returning it. That way people won't rush back to the store after a week to cancel their pre-orders. I mean... if it's being "shipped" customers won't be allowed to cancel it. So in the meantime... i think Verizon will do their pre-orders then.

What u guys think?

The Bionic is a GREAT phone............ when you aren't pulling the battery and rebooting!! I have the great fortune  to live right on the edge of two towers, one VZW, one Alltel. I can literally go from 2 bars on VZW to two bars roaming on Alltel just walking around inside my house (and my house ain't THAT big).

Because of the signal loss issues with the Bionic, I am doing at LEAST 5-6 battery pulls/reboots per day! After numerous factory resets (which did not help at all), VZW is swapping me out for the Nexus when it releases. I am outside of the 14 days, but have been a VZW customer for 13 years and have four lines, all with smartphones on em, and all with unlimited txt/data, so I was insanely lucky enough to get someone at VZW to make an exception to get me out of this Bionic NIGHTMARE......

I have been a HUGE Moto cheerleader going all the way back to the original Q smartphone and Razr flip phones, but after the Bionic, I am DONE with Moto forever!

The first Q was buggy, but bearable
The send gen Q was awesome
The original razr (wifes phone) was great
The OG Droid was a home run
The X was, quite honestly, the BEST smartphone I have ever owned!

Even after all that history, the Bionic is a deal-breaker for me & Moto. If I lived somewhere in a big city when I never lost signal to begin with, and only had to do battery pulls for the "black screen of death", I might be able to wait it out for this alleged software update, but I am beyond disgusted that Moto would release this phone, this late, after countless delays, and STILL have it be a train wreck.

Just my 2 cents worth, your mileage may vary
