Revolution to get Gingerbread starting 10/28/11 Revolution to get Gingerbread starting 10/28/11

So I downloaded the update, installed the update and it rebooted a few times before loading the home screen. After watching the phone get the home screen several times and continually rebooting I tried powering the phone off, but it wouldn't stay off it just reboot it's self. I then did a battery pull and restarted the phone. It still would get to the home screen for a little while and the phone would just reboot again and again. On one of the subsequent reboots I held down the volume down button and the power button in order to get to the factory reset. I performed a factory reset and when you get to the point where you select the language and hit "next" the phone attempted to activate, but then I get an error message that says "A SIM card is needed to operate this phone. Please turn off your phone and insert your SIM card." The phone still reboots it's self from this screen too. I think it could be related to the internal memory, because it tells you that the internal memory is preparing and when it's at 100% the phone reboots.

So far all I've got to see of Gingerbread is the new Boot animation. I was hoping this update would fix my random reboots, but now the phone is basically bricked. Tech support told me to go to a Verizon store tomorrow to get a new SIM card, but am not too confident this will fix my phone.

Hope you all have better luck than me!!!! I'm frigging done with LG. I never should have got impatient enough waiting for the Bionic to settle for this POS. Anyways, I'm just frustrated right now. Good luck!

So, my SIM didn't go bad. The phone did!!! The Verizon Store gave me a new SIM and tried to activate it and my phone still didn't recognize it. And it's still boot-looping!!!

A refurb is on it's way!!!

Sporting my Droid 1 at the moment. Should have waited longer (5 months) to replace it! LG is pissing me off!!!!

Wel lthe biggest difference I have noticed is battery life is a million times better after the update.

I didn't notice any difference in battery life still sucks and now on Pandora it is so slow switching channels and to next song. I did not want update until I read reviews but it downloaded on it's own while I was eating dinner. My friend is going to do manually when and if it gets good reviews

Today I took it off the charger at 7am and it is now 7pm. I am at 76% and have been using it moderately checking emails, 2 phone calls, multiple texts and maybe 15 minutes on the browser all on 4g. Before the update I probably would have been below 15% by now if not completely dead.

Hi,

I also issues with my revo rebooting. It would often reboot up to 2 times daily, I noticed mostly on dayswith heavy data usage. Since the 2.3.4 update 2 days ago it has not rebooted.

However I have a new issue. When using the internet browser if I hit the back key it now takes me back to the home screen. For instance if I googled."android forums" it takes me to the search results, if I click on a link and go to one of the links and then hit.back it does not take me backthe previous googled search results. It.closes out the internet and takes me to the home screen. Anyone else having thia problem? I already did a master reser with no luck. This is driving me nuts. I am a heavy web user and can NOT live without the back key! Thanks

I have not seen any impro ivement in battery either. Does anyone know if we can now do screen shots? I thought I read the other day somewhere that the revo would now be able to do this. Can't find instructions on how to do screen capture unless the phone is rooted. I have previously tried the screen capture app but the color sucks it turned everthing a pinkish color. Thanks in advance! :)
