Root Problems installing CyanogenMod on Fascinate

Ok guys, I'm hitting a problem and figured I'd come here for some advice.

I'm running a Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. I had rooted the phone previously, but had to send it in for warranty replacement (cracked screen) and on the new one I've left it completey stock until now.

It's running latest stock setup (ED05). I am hoping to get CyanogenMod running on it as I've had a lot of stability problems with the stock ROM.

Following their guide, I've downloaded and installed ClockwordMod Recovery 3.0.0.8 using the Heimdall Fronend.

I have downloaded CyanogenMod 7.1 as well, I've rooted the phone with SuperOneClick, and have ROM Manager installed.

I've about ready to go, but I can't get ROM Manager or ClockworkMod Recovery to load - I'm getting a "Signature Verification Failed" error.

Based on my Google-Fu, I've deduced that the stock kernel won't allow unsigned code to run, and that I need a new one, but I'm having issues finding what kernel I need to install to enable this. I don't want anything too exotic - just something I can install and be as close to stock for now as possible - just looking to be able to run the unsigned code.

I found several kernels online via searching, but a lot of the posts were older and I was hesitant to install anything referenced too far back on a newer system.

Also, whatever kernel will work - can that be installed using Heimdall? It seems to have an option for it. I know a lot of people use Odin but it seems to be Windows-only and I'm on Ubuntu.

Thanks!

I followed their guide and had no issue.

I found my problem. After installing the driver successfully, I left the Fascinate phone in download mode and moved on to the Heimdall Frontend step of selecting the extracted recovery.bin in the Recovery section. While both steps worked fine (at least it seemed), it did not.

I ran through the steps again, but powered off the Fascinate and then started up in download mode prior to the Heimdall Frontend step. This worked fine, have the phone set-up fine now.

I am also following the instructions from the cm7 wiki for the Fascinate, using heimdall from Ubuntu 64-bit. It looks like everything works fine, the blue bar comes across and the phone reloads, but when I boot into recovery I get the screen "Android system recovery <3e>" and it says the Installation aborted because the signature verification failed.

Thoughts?

In the recovery menus, there ought to be a setting to turn on signature verification. That should do it.

By the way, I rooted and installed CM7.1 with Ubuntu 64-bit as well. I love it!
