New user question...

Hi Everyone.

I just got an HTC Hero (Telus, Canada), and am loving it so far. I couldnt get an iPhone, b/c the plans they had for my work were inflexible on the pricing, but I am happier than hell I got this phone. It's amazing, other than the audio playback (no audio app seems to have EQ settings).

I am still trying to find my way around things, but I think I'm pretty much 90% of the way there.

I do find that it can get quite slow if I have been using a lot of apps, but with some judicious use of TasKiller, I am happily chugging along.

Anyhow...

As a photographer in my spare time, I am finding the included photo viewers to be downright terrible, at best.

Is there a good image viewer which will allow me to view images full-screen, as well as pinch/pull resize?

Thanks!

i dont know about your picture problem but i do know that you dont need a task killer, apps when not using them are patiently waiting in the backround for you to use them and the correct way to get out of them is use the back button so when u see a long line of apps in the task manager those apps are not running just waiting for you to use them android does the task managing by itself thats what makes android OS different from other operating systems hope this helps in some way if u have any other questions just go into the sprint hero forum and look at the task manager sticky

Hi,

you can pinch zoom in the native photo album. you may need to tap the photo first to get it into full screen mode though.

Have you read my hero and app guide btw? :p

I have read pretty much everything you have provided here, including your blog. :)

Regarding the TasKiller thing... I have found that if I have lots of apps "waiting", it takes an unacceptable amount of time for new apps to start, especially a web browser. If I kill a couple, things return to normal...

The default picture viewer (Photo Album) puts a frame around each picture, and does not allow pinching. I want something like that which is found on the iPhone - full screen, full res, no gimmicky borders around each picture.

it does allow pinching!!! You are running HTC sense yeah? The default app is called Albums isn't it?

Ok i think i may know what you are doing. Are you adding a frame widget to one of the homescreens? This is just a static picture you cannot pinzh zoom this. But open albums from the app menu to browse your pics (sorry if i'm wrong)

 /me smacks forehead.

Dude. You're effin' brilliant. That's exactly what I have been doing.

That has been driving me NUTS all day.

Thank you *very* much.
